Plugged in my iPhone X to recharge at night last night. Woke up with a blown up iPhone. Front screen blown off and back screen shattered. Apple support confirms this is a battery issue but since out of warranty and AppleCare is done no options from apple. they were concerned about injury to person but after that no help. I have seen lots of posts online with similar issues.
Apple rep has stated this is the first of a iPhone X. Is that true?

You need to make an in store appointment for swollen battery. It should only cost you the battery service fee as long as it’s all original Apple parts.

As they age, lithium-ion batteries can expand. If they expand too much, they can push off the screen. While this doesn't happen to most people, it's certainly not unheard of.
So to follow up and finish the string
I took it in. They looked at it. Stated the obvious that the battery blew up.
To get it fixed would cost me $599 dollars.
Also accused me of dropping it which I did not. it blew up while charging.
Anyway I have had iPhones since day one. In my house I have apple devices and computers.
Kind of disappointed in apple I have to admit.

That’s unfortunate. Sounds like they didn’t find it to be caused by the battery so it’s the full out of warranty fee.
No they said it was the battery it is seen from the side. It has expanded and pushed the screen off the body of the phone. They agreed that is what happened.
