Trying to confirm my device password on my new macbook air

Just received my new MacBook Air and have set it up and signed into my apple account. Under my settings there is a "to do" in the Overview tab. The action required is "Confirm Device Password". I have clicked on Continue, the following pops up: "Confirm your device passcode to keep using iCloud. This passcode also protects access to data stored in iCloud." and I click on Continue again. A small screen pops up but immediately disappears. It seems that I am not able to actually enter my device password. Any ideas?

For the record, its been like 7 months and at least two updates since this post was made and I am still having this issue. It's so friggin annoying.

I've been having this issue since 12/2022. Tried to get the help of a senior adviser and he couldn't figure it out either. Beyond annoying. Please fix this Apple.

Just updated my OS version to MacOS Ventura Version 13.3.1 (22E261) and the issue seems to be gone, knock on wood, don't want to jinx it, I hope this fix sticks. (My LT is MAcBook Air M2.)
