mid 2015 macbook pro's 85 watt magsafe charger upgrade to the newer 100 watt usb connection? Thanks

My wife and I both have bid 2015 MacBook Pro's. Both of our 85 W MagSafe chargers get very hot, too hot to handle. Does it make sense to upgrade to the newer 100 W USB connection? Thanks

It's obviously working, but refer to If the adapter gets warm in If your MagSafe cable or power adapter isn't working - Apple Support.

It should never become hot to the point burn injuries become a concern. If it really is that hot by all means have Apple evaluate it: Get Support. If Apple thinks you should bring them in, bring both power adapters and both Macs.

Your Mac requires a power adapter with a MagSafe 2 style connector. Refer to Identify your Mac power adapter - Apple Support. There are no 100 W options for that Mac, but more power wouldn't help anyway.
