large files to computer

Hi,

I have a 14" MacBook Pro that I am setting up. I would like to load large files (e.g. music files) onto my computer from an external hard drive, without storing them in iCloud (they are too large for one thing). If I load them onto my desktop they go onto iCloud. If I go to finder menu and open computer I get Mac hard drive, which seems good, but if I try to open a new folder there, or under users it will only let me create a 'smart folder' which does not seem to be what I need.

So how do I create a regular folder on my Mac hard drive, which I could, e.g. drag and drop a folder from and external drive? Or is there another way to do this?

I just tried to emulate what you are trying to do. This is how I created a new Folder inside my User Folder

Open Finder and click on your User name in the Sidebar. This opens up your User Folder
Now do the following from the Menu Bar
Click File > New Folder >change the name of the Untitled Folder
