Printing/saving to PDF not working

I have a MacBook Pro (macOS Monterey 12.5) that stopped saving/printing to PDF this week. It stopped after the last update Apple pushed out. When I go to print, the "Save to PDF" option comes up under the printers, but when I click "Print," the screen turns a transparent gray instead of saving. Any ideas? I use this feature constantly and it's driving me crazy!

I have a similar problem. After updating to iOS Monterey 12.5, printing pdfs to both HP and Brother printers resulted in extra-large printing of a portion of the page. I deleted and re-loaded the HP app, and have installed the last two HP updates, but the problem persists. Seems pretty clear that it's an iOS problem since the it's happening on two different brands of printer. Word documents come out fine. And unlike tiffadoodledoo, I am able to save pdfs using the print function.

Is the MacBook Pro a company laptop? There's a number of configuration profiles listed:

Configuration Profiles:
ManagedInstalls - FollowHTTPRedirects
ManagedInstalls - UnattendedAppleUpdates
ManagedInstalls - PackageVerificationMode
ManagedInstalls - ClientResourceURL
ManagedInstalls - InstallAppleSoftwareUpdates
ManagedInstalls - DaysBetweenNotifications
ManagedInstalls - SoftwareRepoURL
ManagedInstalls - IconURL

Are they necessary?

Also, there is no reason to ever install or run any 3rd party "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up", anti-virus, VPN or security apps on your Mac.  This user tip describes what you need to know and do in order to protect your Mac: Effective defenses against malware and other threats - Apple Community.

There are no known viruses, i.e. self propagating, for Macs.  There are, however, adware and malware which require the user to install although unwittingly most of the time thru sneaky links, etc.

Anti Virus developers try to group all types as viruses into their ad campaigns of fear.  They do a poor job of the detecting and isolating the adware and malware.  Since there are no viruses these apps use up a lot of system resources searching for what is non-existent and adversely affect system and app performance.

There is one app, Malwarebytes, which was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community, that is designed solely to seek out adware and known malware and remove it.  The free version is more than adequate for most users.

Unless mandated by an employer you should uninstall SentinelOne according to the developer's instructions.

The report also indicated there may be a couple of malware installed. Download and run the free version of Malwarebytes. It was developed by a long time contributor to these forums and a highly respected member of the computer security community.

Macs run macOS only, not iOS. If the drivers are not specifically designed by their respective vendors to support Monterey, then your printing output may not meet your expectations.

Check if your devices are supported when networked by Apple's built-in AirPrint, and if they are, there would be no need for vendor drivers for your Brother or HP devices.

Download and run Etrecheck.  Copy and paste the results into your reply. Etrecheck is a diagnostic tool that was developed by one of the most respected users here in the ASC and recommended by Apple Support  to provide a snapshot of the system and help identify the more obvious culprits that can adversely affect a Mac's performance.

Copy the report

and use the Additional Text button to paste the report in your reply.

Then we can examine the report and try to determine the cause of the problem.
