After a recent iOS update to 15.6.1 the spellcheck feature in Pages seems to have forgotten the spelling of almost every word in the English language.
I’m using Pages version 12.1 (7359.0.88) for iOS on an iPad Pro 11 inch 2nd gen, model MXDD2LL/A
As an example I copied and pasted text from an e-mail into pages. I included a screenshot of what happens.

Any chance you have a different, non-English keyboard active? Spellcheck normally follows the keyboard language.
