Screen turns off way too fast.
How do I keep my macbook air 2021 m1 screen on longer? there is no auto-lock section in which to click on "never".

Click on the Battery icon in System Preferences and then click again on Battery in the list on the left and you will find the "Turn display off after:" slider.
have you gone into System Preferences > Energy Saver and increase the time it takes for the display to go to sleep?
Click on the Battery icon in your System preferences and then you'll find what you need by clicking on Battery in the list on the left. Second Notice :)
Turns off too fast or too soon? You can lengthen the time before your Mac goes to sleep. I'm on my iMac right now , but IIRC it's found under the "power" icon in system preferences.
If you have no way to vary the time before sleep, your OS is flawed ... something integral is missing.
if you don't have "energy saver" in your system preferences, then your macOS is somehow corrupted. here's "energy saver" panel in my Monterey installation.
as you may notice, the "Turn display off after:" slider does exist.
Sadly, Apple took that option away in my MacBook Air. There is no "Energy Saver" listed in System Preferences. I have seen a few other folks with this problem, but I have not found a solution yet. But thanks for responding so quickly.
This is how the computer arrived new (in June). The System Preferences never had Energy Saver in it. I was told that it was a change they made, but I have not found WHERE they tucked the screen time control. (I tried to put a screen shot of it but get an error message for that.)

I'm pretty sure I said that in my second reply. 😎 that's why I asked the OP for a screenshot.
I am sorry, but I cannot upload a picture. When I try, I get the message :"There is an error occurred while loading this image. Please try again later."
I have tried several times. I feel you guys do not believe me, but there is no "Power" icon nor an "Energy Saver" Icon in MY System Preferences. And when I try to upload the screen shot of my System Preferences, the computer TRIES to load it but then reports an error. Yes, it is frustrating.
since you are getting an error message while trying to post the screenshot, your screenshot may be larger then the allowable size that we can post here. you can make it drastically smaller by opening the screenshot in preview, and use the "File" menu to change it to JPEG. click on the "file" menu and then press your keyboard's "option" key. then while holding option, you will see that the "duplicate" choice will change to "save as".
then choose JPEG and save the screenshot. and you can choose a lower quality, which will also decrease the file size.
Thank you so much. I finally found the slider I was looking for.
I work at home and get interrupted SO often and always have to log in after every distraction. At last I will be able to return to my work without that extra step.

Thank you for persisting. That is very sweet of you. And thanks for the info on how to make the image smaller also. Be blessed!
since you said "And thanks for the info on how to make the image smaller" I'm guessing you meant to reply to me. so, you'e welcome.
a screenshot would definitely help. to post one here, you need to use the "image insertion" button found at the bottom of the "reply" window.
and first try robnich's suggestion. (which showed up as I was drafting my latest reply) I've forgot checking in battery as I'm on an iMac.
