I plug in my Apple CD drive and nothing happens. Not even a message that the disc cannot be read. I do hear the drive doing something like trying to read the disc but then nothing. Since the drive does not have a physical eject button I can't even remove the disc. Any insights will be appreciated.
I am running Monterey. I have checked what I believe are the right boxes in System Prefernces:
iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 12.5
A couple thoughts…
Make sure the drive is plugged into a port and not a hub.
Make sure the Superdrive is right side up, black on the bottom.
