My iphone 7 is asking for my wife's macbook air sign on password. When She enters it a message stating wrong password appears. How do I by pass this?

Is it asking for her MacBook air sign on password or her Apple ID password. Have you tried her Apple ID password?

If she has her MacBook turn on both devices to

same Wi-Fi

and it should alert MacBook Air about iPhone 7 sign on then it should prompt the MacBook to let it sign on

Yes, we have tried both. It is asking for her MacBook Air login.
