Are these songs you've purchased or imported from your own CDs? If so, follow the directions in the article linked to above. If you are having trouble with those instructions. please explain exactly where things are going wrong.

If you are asking about music that you've downloaded as part of your Apple Music subscription, you can't convert those. They are protected.
