iPad safari opens a small window that isn’t splitscreen.

1.) I have no idea how to intentionally trigger this but sometimes when I’m scrolling down and reading, in my case, comics, the image opens up in a smaller window, and I want to disable that.

It’s not splitscreen, since it’s a window that floats above the main page I have open. However it is similar in size as a thin splitscreen. Anyone know how to Disable this?

2.) Another similar thing that happens is the image gets dragged to the side and gets smaller and translucent. If I long-press the same or other images, it gets bunched into a group of images. I know it’s a feature for click and dragging content to other apps like messages, but it gets pretty annoying after a while and with seemingly no way to get rid of the grouped photos other than to reload the page. Is there a way to disable this, or a better way to get rid of the floating, translucent images off my screen?

You need to review multitasking - as you have a slide-out Safari view enabled.

Key to accessing and controlling multi-tasking is the small “three-dot” button that is found at the top-centre edge of the screen. More information about using multi-tasking can be found in this support page:

The iPad User Guide is also a rich source of information about using iPad and its many features. The Guide is available both online using a web browser (such as Safari), or as an Apple Books download:
