My Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen) ethernet is slower than my 4K (1st Gen) devices, why?
I have 4x Apple TV's in my house 2x 1st gen Apple TV 4K, and 2x 2nd gen Apple TV 4K that I recently purchased during Prime Day on Amazon.
After purchasing the 2nd generation devices, I have noticed a significant difference in the Ethernet speed between the two generations. I have gigabit Verizon Fios at home that regularly tests at 950 mbps down and 980 mbps up when directly wired into the router. My Apple TV 4K (1st Gen) when also directly wired into the router show a Speedtest.net speed of roughly the same 910 mbps down and 930 mbps up. However running with the exact same cabling from the exact same port with the Apple TV 4K (2nd Gen), I am getting 290 mbps down and 31 mbps up.
These speeds were consistent between the generation of devices when tried on the same exact cabling, port, TV, placement, and everything. I am hoping someone can confirm a bug in the Apple software, or at least confirm Apple neutered their hardware specs in the 2nd generation Apple TV 4K devices. If not I need to start an RMA with Apple because this is a crazy difference between two generations that I cannot explain.
