Others have noticed that turning off Match Frame Rate in Apple TV settings resolved the issue for YouTube BUT this affects all other apps as well and may diminish the viewing experience. YouTube is playing games with switching frame rates between content and ads. Whether it’s intentional or an oversight is unclear. Remember Google owns YouTube.

Since I added my last post, I noticed a very annoying issue with the MLB app on my AppleTV as well. When MLB breaks away to an ad, it causes a network error. The only way to recover is to close the error dialog out and find the game again and resume (vs. watch live).

To verify it was not something with my IP connection, I reset my router. When it was up, I restarted my AppleTV. Neither of these efforts fixed these network errors.

I am not sure how ads are injected into the MLB broadcaster stream (i.e., YES), but, like on YouTube, ads seem to be causing the issues.

I don't have any network analysis tools to do any further troubleshooting.

I gave your recommendation a shot and, unfortunately, it did not work for me. Moreover, I am experiencing a similar issue in the MLB.tv app where I get a network error almost every time there is a commercial on.

While I am working from a very small sample size, this leads me to believe the issue is with my network provider (Spectrum) or with the two latest updates for my AppleTVs (I have three).
