Over the last couple of weeks, my AppleTV 4k has been having trouble with the YouTube App. What happens in the opening seconds of most videos and all Ads everything goes black with no sound. When the video returns from an ad it does the same.
I've restarted and cleared the app several times.

I'm having a similar issue. I don't get ads since I have YouTube Premium, but at the start of every video I'm getting that black screen and when it resumes, it's a few seconds ahead. I think this started with the latest app update.
Does yours also skip ahead 2-3 seconds when it returns from the black screen?
Yes. The fix linked to above fixed it.
"Going into settings, audio/video and turning off match frame rate solves the issue. "
