Block Apple News in MacOS

I use an app called "Self Control" to block news sites during work hours. I want to do the same for Apple News.

Previous answers, such as "you can't" and "don't launch it" are unhelpful. Treat my request as that of an addict. Launching News is embedded in muscle memory; it takes four keystrokes to launch in less than a half second (cmd-space N E return). I find myself launching it unconsciously.

An open to exploring (in order of preference):

1) Some new feature in MacOS (I am currently on 12.5..1)

2) block the URL to news service (may work for the "Self Control App" -- not sure)

3) remove the App (am fine if that breaks the Stocks App)

4) remove only news.app from spotlight, but keep all the other apps (which I use constantly)

5) something else: I dunno, rename the App? Some other clever workaround?

I am a developer so terminal commands are fine. Even if it breaks after an update.

You should be able to block News using Screen Time. However, if you are a developer, I would expect that you would be able to find a way around that.
