My watch has been on the charger for a couple hours but when I remove from the charger I get a red lighting bolt with a cable.bolt.

My watch is showing charging with a green lighting bolt and a cable but it is not charging? After a couple hours when I remove from the charger I get a red lighting bolt. How can I get my watch to work/wake up? I have tried to force a restart by pressing the crown and button for 10 seconds but nothing happens.

Are you using the Apple charging puck that came with the watch? Have you removed the plastic wrapper from the charging puck?

Are you using an Apple wall charger, such as the one that came with your iPhone?

Have you cleaned the charging puck's charging surface? Have you cleaned the back of the watch?

This is the correct way to restart.

My watch is series 4. I am using the charging cable that came with the watch. I have made sure the plastic covering was removed and the surfaces are clean. When pressing the Crown and the side button simultaneously, for about ten seconds, to preform a hard reset. However, my watch is not responsive will not reboot. As soon as I remove the watch from the charger I get a red lighting bolt.
