Activation lock not getting removed by device passcode

My laptop was working quite slowly and glitching so i tried to factory reset it. But i wasnt the one who bought the laptop and am not currently in contact with that person. And i tried to enter its password which I know is correct, to remove the activation lock but it says it's wrong. I was also having this issue before i tried to reset it. I would have to reboot it multiple times before it realised it was the correct password.

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 12.0

The laptop is useless if you can't get a hold of the original owner to have them remove the icloud activation lock.
