Capital letters not working

All of a sudden, when I press shift for a capital letter, the screen immediately shrinks in size and stops functioning. If I press shift again, the screen goes back to normal size but still will not print capitals. I read in an old reply that if you press caps lock, you can type a capital and the window does not shrink, which what I am doing now. You must then press the caps lock key again to turn it off and print lower case, as it normally works. I am using a MacPro with Monterey 12.5.1.

Hi Luis,

The apple fairy came to my house last night because when I opened today, the shift key works fine!! I don't know how this happened because the problem was there last night and I did not change anything in the afternoon. Perhaps it was changed when apple tried to update my OS last night, though they sent a message that they couldn't install it fully. Maybe they updated just enough to resolve my problem ??

Thank you for all your support and patience trying to resolve this.
