Big Sur Disconnecting My External HDD

None of the ideas mentioned in the previous thread ( BBig Sur Disconnecting My External HDD - Apple Community ). My two external drives have their own power. "Prevent Computer from Sleeping Automatically when Display is Off" doesn't work either.

SNAFU, Apple.

That's because the only ports available on this MBA are two thunderbolts: one for power and the other, if I wanted to limit myself to only one peripheral (not a happy choice for a laptop with only 250GB internal storage). Am I missing something?

The MBA was asleep for 3 hours after the OS 11.3.8 update with no HD disconnect. But DiscUtility First Aid still fails on both HDs

One of these is my Time Machine BU. It still backs up and I can restore from it. But at this point I don't trust either external.

Then, it appears this specific Apple Computer MBA is a bit a mismatch for your expectations and working habits and need another configuration with more available ports

That is something only the user can determine and action this.

Beyond that and pursuant to the issues at hand - there has been sufficient advise offered for the User to make an informed and educated choice what the next course of action is required for this computer.

Shall not take up any more of your time and wish you the best in whatever directs are decided for this computer

Demand on the exact Model of MBA - the machine has 2 USB Female Connectors.

That said - to connect Two or more External Drives at the same time would require a Hub connected to the computer and the Drives connected to the Hub.

There lies in the possible issue.

What happens when the drive are Directly Connect to the computer

Further, is the User profile true and accurate --->>> " MacBook Air 13″, macOS 11.3 "

The current stable version of Big Sur is now version 11.6.8 and there is a Safari Security Update outside of the 11.6.8

I'm set-up with the Satechi external dock into which is plugged a standard USB hub

Been there, tried that. It makes no difference whether the external drives are connected to the hub or the dock

Thanks for inquiring. The OS is 11.3.1. I'd be delighted to find out this is the fix, but this sure didn't come up, in the previous long thread. Yes, I will try this and report back
