Airpod case stopped showing battery life on iPhone. Now my case will not go into pairing mode

Initially, about 8 months ago, my Airpod battery life stopped showing up on my iPhone. The only way I could tell what my battery life was, was to add the battery widget to my home screen. So today I read an article that instructed that I should 'reset the Airpods' by removing them from the Bluetooth menu and adding them back.

Well, I removed them from my Bluetooth settings, and now they will not go into discovery mode. I've gone through every step, and I'm getting no light or any response at all when holding the button on the back of the case.

Troubleshooting AirPods Charge:

A. A Few Links to Visit:

B. Try the Following Tasks:

  • Hold Down the Button on the case for about 15 seconds.

  • Use an Apple Brand Cable - not a third party one - cool though it may look, a fabric, third-part cable would likely tear - (Apple cable's are plastic and are intended for Apple)

  • Remove the AirPod from the Case, then place it back in the charger. Perhaps it needs to resync with the charger

How to Clean your AirPods and EarPods - Apple Support

Well done. You have offered several options, to which NONE relate to my problem. The AirPod case indicator will not illuminate. Holding the button gets no response from the indicator. I’m convinced the case is bad. This is further evidence that Apple builds a great product with very poor quality that are designed to last through the warranty and that is all.

The AirPods are charged. They were 100% before I disconnected them (following the “reset” options on Apple Support).

I’m using an OEM chord. I have tried a few and none work.

No light when I press or hold the button. No light when charging. Only logical option is that the case is fried.
