AirPods Max location not available in Find My

Find my keeps showing “no location found” for my AirPods Max. Previously it would show a location but the information was shown to be from June, so several months old. After removing the AirPods from find my and adding them again it now shows “no location found”.

My AirPods are not lost, I can connect to them and even play a sound through find my. However they will not show on the map and directions are also unavailable. As such I am fearing that if I were to lose them I would be unable to find them using Find My.

Is there a way to “reset” the AirPods or some other solutions I could try so that they can be located through Find My again?

Hello Qwertworks,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

Let's confirm you've worked through the following steps to confirm this is set up the same. In addition, check if anyone else may have paired your AirPods Max with their device to show the location. You can find more info here: Turn on the Find My network for AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max - Apple Support

1. Wear your AirPods, and make sure they’re connected to your device.

2. Go to Settings  > Bluetooth, then tap next to your AirPods.

3. Scroll down, then turn on Find My Network.

Note: If people use your AirPods (3rd generation), AirPods Pro, or AirPods Max with multiple Apple IDs, only the person who turned on the Find My network can see them in the Find My app.

If you're still unable to locate the AirPods and they're not paired with another device, confirm the latest software version is installed on your iPhone.

Have a great day!
