iOS 16.6 Battery Draining Fast

iOS 16 came out today. I've now updated to iOS 16 and I've noticed that my battery is draining faster than it normally does. Is it normal to experience battery drain after a big update?

This is not solved. I opened a call with Apple support and they are aware of it. Please log a support call with them. Also it may be causing the battery health on older phones to drop as well. My daughter's iPhone 11 pro did so (It fell below 80% and recomended replacing) in which case you should claim on Apple to replace it for you for free if it is iOS 16 that has caused it.

I charge my phone every night before going to bed. I actually had a battery replace at the Apple Store yesterday and today the same thing continues with the new battery. So, the upgrade has to be the cause of the battery issue. My phone was bought brand new at the Apple Store in 2021.

The problem was never the battery, so changing the battery naturally did not fix the problem. Battery drain is caused by APPS using energy. You need to figure out why you have one or more apps that are using too much energy. Common offenders: At the very top of the list is VPN services. Followed by FaceBook. And streaming video. and interactive games.

I am literally scratching my head and crying for the stupid thing i have done by upgrading to ios 16. i have iphone 11 but its only 1.2 yrs old. But after upgrading battery draining seems to be like a feature in the phone. Under normal usage, songs that too using earphone or browsing, in its max 3-4 hrs, and if i take the call then forget about the battery. Have to carry powerbank everywhere i go. When outside or travelling i fear to use the map, it might drain within an hour or a half.

So I went yesterday to Apple Store to check my phone 11 which I bought in 2021. The battery is draining fast. Per diagnostic test, my battery was at 84% capacity. The tech said Apple Care will replace for free if it shows your battery at 80 %. I ended up buying a new battery before I entered this forum. Very upset that at the Apple Store, it was not mentioned to me that the new upgrade is causing this battery depletion.

My battery percentage stayed at 41% for an hour or more this evening. Then I logged in with my Apple-ID to iCloud. After about 15-20 minutes the battery is down to 36% and I can clearly see the trend changing in the battery graph. I did login to iCloud via the web before and I have basically nothing there. I've never used Photos or Drive. Had a few old Contacts which I removed completely as well as 1 note and a 3 reminders. Basically a completely empty iCloud. Whatever it is trying to sync it should be done within minutes or even seconds. Must be something else going on...

Ever since I updated to iOS 16 on my iPhone 12 Pro, my battery life is beyond terrible. I will charge my phone to a full charge- take it off the charger, and within an hour or two my phone has drained to less than 20%, this happens without even really using it at all. If I am using my phone- just looking at TikTok’s, or searching Amazon my phone will lose battery life so fast. Before I did the update, I was a an Airshow all day taking videos- never had to charge my phone- I waited so long to update, here I thought I was being safe waiting. I wish I never updated- now my phone feels like iPhone 6 all over again. This make me so sad. I wish I read all these reviews before I updated. I feel so stupid now. My phone was perfect before the update- now I have to keep charging it so many times a day I lost count. So upsetting. I should have just left my phone how it was, it was great before the update.
