Can't use Apple Account Balance to complete purchase

I'm attempting to use my Apple Account Balance to partially pay for an order. My credit card covers the remaining balance. I'm unable to do so and I keep getting "Your payment authorization failed. Please verify your information and try again, or try another payment method." error.


I've tried using a different credit. I was able to complete an order by just using a credit card. I'm able to use my Apple Account balance for App Store purchases just fine. I was able to use my Apple account balance to cover an entire order but I've since returned that order.


I contact support over the phone and they promised me to email me within 48 hours but I've heard from them back after 5 days. No luck with live chat either.


Who do I need to reach out to get support for this? It feels like it's account related.

So after further research this has been an issue every time you cancel or return an item bought with ID balance . (Which was the common denomonatir in our cases) You have to call back in and use these specific words “Please unblock my Purchasing Block on my Apple ID balance that was blocked when i cancelled Order mxxxxx”. If you use these words they won’t transfer you but instead create a case to level 2 which should get back in a day…. That’s the stage I’m in right now. If that doesn’t work , I’m emailing Tim Cook, if that doesn’t work BBB, it’s my hard earned real money, not just some store points

Yeah! This doesn't seems to be blocking or something. I tried to place ipad with the account balance. It was working. I cancelled it and tried with ipad order again it is not working. Next, i tried to order to order airpods pro. It was working. I cancelled it and tried with airpods again it is not working. This seems to be a clear bug in apple.com website.

yes, i was on the phone with apple like every day and the last thing they told me was that they were going to `unblock` some `block` that was on my apple balance (that was the last CS agent i spoke to)


so, maybe they fixed it for me, or they fixed it globally, i don't know.


one interesting thing though, the last CS agent i spoke to already knew of the error message, I told her I receive an error message and she asks me if it says `payment method unauthorized` or whatever the exact error message is..

I'm in the same boat here! I never used this Apple ID before to make any purchases (not even with a cc) because my main Apple ID has a different region/currency. So I loaded this one with a bunch of gift cards I bought yesterday and tried to place an order for a MacBook, however, it did not proceed with the next step! I don't get any error messages, but whenever I hit the blue button, it will grey out for a moment with a little something spinning right next to it and nothing would happen, it just turns back to blue again! The chat support rep was not able to spot a block from her side and this was escalated to a senior advisor over the phone. I'm expecting a call in like 2 hours from now. I assumed before reading this thread, that it has something to do with reloading the account with multiple gift cards at once. I'm really frustrated, as the Back To School offer would be over in 2 days! :(

I asked customer service to unredeemed all my balance back to original gift cards and let my friend to use gift cards for purchases. Still failed. The message shows "payment authorization failed on card •••xxxx. Please verify your information and try again, or try another payment method." (xxxx is last for digit number of my returned gift cards).


I then called apple support again, they checked that my gift card is active and balance is there. They then transferred me to sales team again.


No any progress has been made so far.

It’s interesting what @blakefromwayne just said. While I didn’t do what he suggested, the rep that ended up turning this problem around *was* the media team. Unlike everyone else that did a blind transfer to someone else (once they realized there was nothing they could do), this guy asked me for the exact error message and explained the problem with sales before he connected me to then. The next rep said she understood what was happening and that they were actively trying to fix but that it would take a few days. Still — the media team seemed more knowledgeable about this.

I want to use my apple account balance to pay for my order, the balance is sufficient to cover the full payment, but I always getting "Your payment authorization failed. Please verify your information and try again, or try another payment method." error. I checked that all my information was correct, and I switched to a different Apple device to place the order, also failed. I send live chat to contact customer service, they can't solved the problem and let me call customer service or go to the Apple Store, I went to the Apple Store but still can't solve the problem, I called the customer service, they said there was nothing wrong with my Apple Account Settings, they didn't known what the problem is, and transferred my call to two different departments, finally, the problem remains unresolved.

All I can do is watch the money sit in my Apple Account, and I can't buy anything.

Tried to buy an LG 24 inch monitor with apple balance and split card visa payment. Didn't work. Got a "payment cannot be authorized" in red bubble.


Talked to an online rep and they sent in a ticket.


Tried to then use apple balance to buy a Magic Mouse and keyboard, covering the total cost with the apple balance (so no split payment). Didn't work, got same red authorization message.


About 15 minutes later it worked on the mouse and keyboard. Surprised, I canceled the order, then tried reordering the LG monitor again using split payment. Got red error message again.


Confused, tried re-ordering mouse and keyboard again, and got red message again.


Like what the heck, why cannot I use this balance Apple? Seriously infuriating and ridiculous.
