i have done this method and installed IOS 16 again but same issue ,the phone is not working proper not scrolling ,touch is not working smooth too much lagging ,,, APPLE should have to solve this problems on iPhone x , the support team is also not cooperating , they do diagnostic method to my phone and asked me to change my phone battery i have changed but the issue is same , too much tired from this version , this was my big mistake to update the IOS 16
3 days after upgrading to ios 16.1.1 on my iphone 12 the touch screen was totally unresponsive. after much searching i found a solution thtat eventually worked.
1.Preaa volume up quickly
2.Press volume down quickly
3 Hold down power down button until phone shuts down
4 my phone worked after restarting. i tried it a few times before it eventually did. tip is tp jolf shut down button for a at least a minute or two (I think).
Not happy at all. Fix it Apple!
the problem is not in the connection or in the socket, even when the iPhone is disconnected the display still has the same problem, as I already wrote, I just upgraded to ios 16 yesterday until then the display was ok
Workaround: Settings > Touch > Accessibility > Touch Accomodation (Turn on Touch Accomodation) > Scroll down and Select “Initial Touch Location” >> Scroll down >> Swipe Gestures (Turn on Swipe Gestures) >> Select “Standard”. (Source)
Restart your iPhone or iPad. Make sure that your screen is clean and free of any debris or water. Disconnect any Lightning or USB-C accessories. If your screen works after removing an accessory, try using a different outlet, cable, or charger.

Apple absolutely did acknowledge there was an issue with third-party screens. See here under iOS 16.0.2:

It's amazing to me on how there are so many people looking for help and yet hardly a post form anyone ACTUALLY from Apple. I find it pretty comical really.
This is a user-to-user forum. Apple's participation is minimal. Paid Apple employees maintain order and the forums and, in certain forums, if a post has not received any answers in 12 hours and can be answered with a link to a support article, they are authorized to respond. But Apple Support doesn't actively participate here.
If you want help directly from Apple, you can use the Support link at the bottom left of every page of these forums.

I had the same problem with my XR, the update messed it up.
I followed this workaround and it worked with the mention that on step 4 I chose 8x on the swipe gesture speed and everything went back to normal!
Hope it helps

Did you find any fix or work around? I went to Apple Store technician, he tried same approach restarting/resetting , didn’t help. Finally he said the screen I replaced myself long before could be causing issue. But it worked fine before ios 16 upgrade. Apple is trying to block diy fixes. Very disappointed with apple.
just found below article,

Some reports even suggest that this issue could be prevalent on iPhones that have a 3rd-party screen. But none of these claims have been testified.

Mines the same I spoke to someone from apple and the options were take it to the apple store which is Miles away from me or send it off to be looked at and be charged £426!! The phones only 2 months old
Same issues here. I have the problem since 16.1 and 16.2 didn't solve the issue.
Also it's not a screen replacement problem since I never replaced the screen. iOS 15 was snappy, 16 instead is pretty slow, almost like the processor is overworking for some reason.
The volume up + down + restart didn't work for me. I erased, reinstalled 16.2 and restore a backup of the phone about 2 days ago. The system seems better but at least once or twice a day the screen response stops for few minutes and then it gets back to normal. Still thinking from time to time there's a process consuming the processor resources.
Just replying to my last post. I spoke too soon. After a couple of days from a complete erase and restore from backup my phone is completely useless, the screen is not responding probably 90% of the time, just leaving the phone open on my desk, the phone open apps on its own, randomly, scroll screen and I can't control anything. Only option I have is restarting. Pretty depressing.
Had the same issue; in my device I had turned on Developer mode. Seems it causing the issue, i had tuned off and its been a week and no longer having screen touch issues.
