Can't import photos gives me an error message
After updating to IOS 16, I tried importing a video and a photo however, I get this error message from the photos app. Is this a bug with IOS 16 or a bug with the photos app?

as I can email only 5 photos each time to transfer them to my desktop Mac Pro I found another and hopefully temporarily (until an iOS 16.1 fix) alternative with which you can transfer up to 2Gb in 1 time: use https://wetransfer.com
I am using this service for years for all kind of other documents and it works perfectly.
The only disadvantage is that the file get a WeTransfer file name instead of IMG_1234.jpg by your iPhone. Something like
1399D0A7-B54D-4562-8A78-47D57503110E.jpeg
However, once imported in the Photos app the images will be in regular chronological order.
With regards,
Can’t use SD cards in an iPhone. I clear up my memory by transferring photos/videos from my iPhone via USB cable to Photos app and back it up on an External Hard Drive.
Apple is changing it so you need to upgrade your OS to Catalina for this to work now. I’m also on an older iMac from 2012 so Catalina isn’t compatible on this because it’s vintage.
One work around that worked for me is to export the photos from the iphone using airdrop.
I get get also an error message, when I tried importing pictures into Photos. The error message is -9337. I tried to import pictures I made today and also a picture I made some time ago, and got the same error code.
IOS 16 is a mess. With every new upgrade we older users (since 1983) get the shaft. With Jobs gone, they put out junk that is never an improvement and untested. This is ridiculous, we can't transfer photos to Mac running less than the latest OS! Time to stop supporting Apple? Getting close for me!
So how does it make sense we can airdrop a photo into Photo on Mac, but the very same photo can't be sent over a cable from the iPhone. So Apple is ok to screw those older Macs w/o Bluetooth. How nice!
I never said I'm using SD card in iPhone. What I said was that I am having to use a digital camera with an SD card to take pictures at work INSTEAD of my iPhone because that is the only way i'm able to export the pictures to my iMac.
This is the issue that has me not happy with Apple right now. If i want to be able to use my iPhone for taking pictures and exporting them to my iMac, I have not other option than to purchase a new computer even though my current one works perfectly fine other than this problem.
Hi,
I'm getting the same issue. I reported it to apple and I guess they will listen (hopefully). but meanwhile I read here that some of you are using airdrop. my Macbook is Mid2010, do you know if I can use airdrop as a work around.
thanks
Regards
The operation couldn't be completed. (com.apple.ImageCaptureCore error -9956.)
iPhone 12 iOS 16.0.2
MacBook Pro Mid 2015 OSX 10.14.6 Mojave
After updating to iOS 16.0.2 I can no longer import photos and have them deleted on my phone using Photos app on the MBP.
The idea that the iPhone and the MBP cannot do simple photo transfers is really sloppy work on Apple's part. Yes, I know Apple wants everyone to upgrade to Catalina, but once I do that a bunch of other software on my MBP will break. I'll ditch the iPhone and get an Android before I do that.
I have the same problem importing photos from iphone XS MAX. Any resolutions?
Same problem as described above immediately following iOS 16 update, using the following setup:
So Ron, are you happy that Apple has prevented you from using the Photo app on your Mac, that you get an error message, that they don't care?
Thanks for this work around blmvb! I was able to at least get some things taken care of.
