Screen Capture

I need the Screen Capture function (command-shift-4) to save the screen capture as a JPG not as a PNG.

I have seen references to a start button but I do not have a Start button and other suggestion do not show an option for JPG format.

How can use screen capture and save as JPG?

iMac 27″, macOS 11.6

Screen capture doesn't give you an option to save as a JPG instead of PNG. You can either open the PNG file with GIMP or another graphics editor and then save it as a JPG. Snag-It will do a screen capture and allow you to save as a JPG. A PNG is typically usable in place of a JPG but if you have to have a JPG then it will be a two step process unless you use a screen capture program.
