Anyone else having issues playing videos now after upgrading to iOS16 using the HDMI adapter? Tubi doesn’t work. Amazon doesn’t work. It plays but as if it’s in slow motion. Videos I purchased play just fine.
any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Great news, sort of. Thanks for checking. I had contacted Apple by phone in early October and they first blamed the problem on my TV and then second on the apps. Clearly it is an ios problem or firmware problem or lack of communication with app developers problem. Looks like they now think it is firmware.
Until its fixed if you're desperate and if you have an iPad on 15.7 or alternatively buy an old refurbished iPad, iPhone 8 or SE (about $150 on Amazon), download all the streaming apps and use it with the HDMI adapter while using your real phone as a hot spot to connect it to the internet. You just have to make sure the refurbished iPhone has ios 13.4 - 15.7 on it (Hulu requires 13.4 and Pluto 13.0 and Peacock 13.?). I'm doing this with my iPad that's still on 15.7.
It is not the adapter itself, I used my iPhone as a hotspot and connected my Vizio TV and had the exact same result choppy picture no audio on prime, Hulu and Paramount plus, I am afraid this is intentional and permanent.
I just bought a second-hand iPhone SE (1st generation) for 50 $, which runs iOS 15.7.2. I only use
it as a playback station for streaming services via the HDMI adapter. No more waiting for Apple to fix iOS 16.
Just an update… I finally got around to trying a device I haven’t updated to iOS16 and BOTH HDMI adapters work fine so it is a iOS16 issue!
update fixed my hdmi issues. Apple, prime, Hulu, Netflix and peacock all work now !!
Exactly what I had happen. It said this accessory firmware needs to update if you want to use it - something like that; so I waited and all I got was slow motion video. I assumed it updated ok because it said it wouldn’t play until it did.
Thanks Apple! I now own two useless adapters until this gets fixed. If it can be.
Installed iOS 16 and 16.02 Hulu, prime & paramount + not functioning properly when using Apple hdmi adapter video stops and goes plus no audio is there a fix?

The fact apple hasn’t even responded tells me all our adapters are now DOA. There is no fix. I just tried prime again and it’s still doing it.

The only option is to go back to the previous iOS 15.7.2. This is done by using iTunes on your computer. Follow these instructions.
Once your iPhone gets into the Recovery mode, iTunes will automatically detect your device and display a prompt on the screen. Tap the Restore button and then the Restore and Update option. After you agree to the warning message, iTunes will undo the iPhone update by installing a previous iOS version

Same issue here cannot watch Amazon prime video with the new update which I just downloaded this morning. The video has no audio and I get a video that keeps pausing then playing.No issues before the update and I watch movies daily. Hope they fix this problem.
Still no solution. The core of this problem is Apple iOS 16. I nearly lost all my data on my iPhone 12 when I tried to roll back to iOS 15.7. It's a shame that the Apple support ignores this bug. Shame on you, Apple!
It was 16.0.3 and Apple is blaming Amazon and Amazon is blaming Apple. I have spent 2+ hours on the phone with both.
16.1.1 did not fix the issue. I hope it is not going to f’up my CarPlay. Is it a doable process to go back to 15.7?
Yes and no. Engineers still working on it. I’ve sent them multiple links to the discussion boards to show it’s not just me. It would probably be helpful if more called and they were able to see the logs at the time it happens.
I just downloaded IOS16.1.2 which is showing to be the latest update. I updated then got the firmware update notice when hooked up to “lightening to hdmi” connector, now I have sound with no picture on the Chosen app. I have picture with no sound on Prime app. And I have sound and picture on YouTube app.
Someone please fix this. Apple WTFU!
Just installed ios 16.2. It still doesn't work. Now I get a message saying the it can't play on the connected device. Hulu and AppleTV don't work. Netflix still works. I think the problem has gotten worse.
