HDMI adapter, prime video and iOS16…NOT working.

Anyone else having issues playing videos now after upgrading to iOS16 using the HDMI adapter? Tubi doesn’t work. Amazon doesn’t work. It plays but as if it’s in slow motion. Videos I purchased play just fine.

any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Well I just tried 4 different movies I purchased from Apple and now none of those will play either. “Problem with this content.” Play fine off the iPad.

so Apple is making things WORSE.

…and I don’t think it’s copyright because why does everything still play off my iPad?

…these latest update are to blame. My advice to everyone is do NOT update until you come here and read everything is fine.

Ok! So I also tried to connect to a computer monitor after trying my smart tv and still did not work! And…. I haven’t upgraded to ios 16 yet I’m at 15.6.1… So, who knows! I guess you have to use the HDCP/HDMI Splitter connector in order for this to work, although I haven’t tried it but from what I’ve researched it’s the way to go. So that’s it! Hope everybody reads all of these postings so nobody has to keep saying my connection doesn’t work! Lol

Happy hunting people!

And Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukah and Happy New Year Everybody!🎄🕍

It appears that Apple has not followed their own App Store Review Guidelines. In section 2.1 it says, “We will reject incomplete app bundles and binaries that crash or exhibit obvious technical problems.” I’d say a steaming app that won’t stream properly using current Apple hardware and the latest iOS has an obvious technical problem.

If it is the app that is a problem Apple should reject it until the developer fixes it.

If it is iOS 16 that is the problem then Apple needs to fix it.

So in either case Apple needs to do something.

Late to the party, but same here. Spent almost 3 hours and 5 reps (one who set up a tech call to a phone number unused for 7 years, even though I she asked for my current number). One rep said she never got calls with this issue. I said you should read the community posts about it, hundreds of posts. Even though each one assured me they would solve my problem, it never happened despite me repeating the issues many many times. One rep tried to set an appointment for a store visit over 4 hours from my home. All this to say the HMDI problem persists with Prime Amazon and I’m not too confident of it getting fixed.

Just updated to 16.3. HDMI converter now seems to work at least with Amazon prime. Haven’t tried the other services yet.

That took a while, but thank you Apple for finally correcting this problem. I did notice that correction of this problem is not listed in the notes for the 16.3 update so I guess you’re really not acknowledging that there was a problem.

I can confirm Hulu, Netflix, Prime, PBS, AppleTV+, YouTube, Disney, Pluto, and Tubi all work with ios 16.3. Paramount+ and Peacock still do not.

I actually got a call from a support person telling me they fixed the bug even though it was not on the release notes! I’ll have to let him know about Paramount+ and Peacock.

I was having problems with some apps, HBO Max and Hulu for example, but NetFlix seemed OK. I usually try to download videos then play them from the phone rather that streaming, but not always. I just updated from iOS 16.2 to 16.3. I've only tried playing two things with the adapter, one on HBO Max and one on Hulu, but they both began playing without issue. So maybe iOS 16.3 will fix the problem for some people.

I can confirm as well after the latest iOS update Amazon Prime works! No thanks to apple or Amazon or anyone else. I am sure they didn’t even fix it on purpose. Probably just got lucky.

Since this fiasco I have bought more Blu-ray’s than I care to mention which would have all been digital movies! I think a disc is more likely to play and play in the future than any silly adapter and phone. Especially since apple didn’t care about this issue for MONTHS.

You lost a lot of money Apple. BRAVO. Let’s hear it for Apple. *Clap clap clap.

Yes, like the others here, the issues is fixed with the latest update. Personally, not pleased with Apple.the worst customer service experience I’ve had in a long time. I spent hours and talked to 9 representatives within the past 2 weeks. ONLY ONE acknowledged the issue. The rest pretended like the never heard of it. I was even congratulated for isolating the issue to the iOS in question. With each representative I had to re-explain the situation, though they had the previous notes. I asked everyone, do you read the discussion forums? This is not a new issue “crickets”. This was an issue for months, if Apple wanted it fixed earlier, it would have been.

Yes having the same issue with the 16.0.2. update. I have a projector and run HDMI cable from iPhone and iPad to it. We have a huge golf simulator/movie theater screen that’s 10ft wide and 9ft high. Now we can’t see any of our streaming channels on the big screen.

In my opinion, it’s risky to go back to iOS 15 without losing important data though it can be done. Using iTunes or 3rd party apps to revert back is an option , but I don’t trust the process. Hope Apple will fix this soon.
