Anyone else having issues playing videos now after upgrading to iOS16 using the HDMI adapter? Tubi doesn’t work. Amazon doesn’t work. It plays but as if it’s in slow motion. Videos I purchased play just fine.
any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Great news, sort of. Thanks for checking. I had contacted Apple by phone in early October and they first blamed the problem on my TV and then second on the apps. Clearly it is an ios problem or firmware problem or lack of communication with app developers problem. Looks like they now think it is firmware.
Until its fixed if you're desperate and if you have an iPad on 15.7 or alternatively buy an old refurbished iPad, iPhone 8 or SE (about $150 on Amazon), download all the streaming apps and use it with the HDMI adapter while using your real phone as a hot spot to connect it to the internet. You just have to make sure the refurbished iPhone has ios 13.4 - 15.7 on it (Hulu requires 13.4 and Pluto 13.0 and Peacock 13.?). I'm doing this with my iPad that's still on 15.7.
when i contacted them, they blamed the internal wiring on my adapter and told me to bring it into an apple store(the nearest of which is a 3 hr drive from where i live.) they won’t do anything about it nor even recognize that the issue is ios 16, no matter how much you insist on that. i asked them if apple recognized this issue as something inherent to ios 16, but they just dodged the question. it beats me what we have to do so their team can at least take a look at the issue for what it is
I can confirm update 16.2 does not fix the issue. Not with Amazon prime anyway.
I got the same “Downloading accessory firmware. Your accessory will not function until the download completes.” Message and then the same choppy playback.

Well I just tried 4 different movies I purchased from Apple and now none of those will play either. “Problem with this content.” Play fine off the iPad.
so Apple is making things WORSE.
…and I don’t think it’s copyright because why does everything still play off my iPad?
…these latest update are to blame. My advice to everyone is do NOT update until you come here and read everything is fine.
Join the club. There are millions of people with the same problem. Apple is not responding and they don’t intend to. It is not the apps, it all started when they updated to iOS 16. I have an older iPad still running on 15.7 and it works fine. Apple owns this! Litigation?
It appears that Apple has not followed their own App Store Review Guidelines. In section 2.1 it says, “We will reject incomplete app bundles and binaries that crash or exhibit obvious technical problems.” I’d say a steaming app that won’t stream properly using current Apple hardware and the latest iOS has an obvious technical problem.
If it is the app that is a problem Apple should reject it until the developer fixes it.
If it is iOS 16 that is the problem then Apple needs to fix it.
So in either case Apple needs to do something.
Late to the party, but same here. Spent almost 3 hours and 5 reps (one who set up a tech call to a phone number unused for 7 years, even though I she asked for my current number). One rep said she never got calls with this issue. I said you should read the community posts about it, hundreds of posts. Even though each one assured me they would solve my problem, it never happened despite me repeating the issues many many times. One rep tried to set an appointment for a store visit over 4 hours from my home. All this to say the HMDI problem persists with Prime Amazon and I’m not too confident of it getting fixed.
I can confirm as well after the latest iOS update Amazon Prime works! No thanks to apple or Amazon or anyone else. I am sure they didn’t even fix it on purpose. Probably just got lucky.
Since this fiasco I have bought more Blu-ray’s than I care to mention which would have all been digital movies! I think a disc is more likely to play and play in the future than any silly adapter and phone. Especially since apple didn’t care about this issue for MONTHS.

Yes having the same issue with the 16.0.2. update. I have a projector and run HDMI cable from iPhone and iPad to it. We have a huge golf simulator/movie theater screen that’s 10ft wide and 9ft high. Now we can’t see any of our streaming channels on the big screen.
In my opinion, it’s risky to go back to iOS 15 without losing important data though it can be done. Using iTunes or 3rd party apps to revert back is an option , but I don’t trust the process. Hope Apple will fix this soon.
it doesn’t work with prime streaming but seems fine with netflix
I agree, The only consistent is the ios16 update which means it most assuredly is apples to fix. Apple are you reading your own community message boards?
I have an issue with Apple TV Original connected via HDMI (original Apple adapter used), audio disappears at the end of each video. This happens a few minutes before the end.
Prime Video for iOS also has an audio issue on iOS 16 conetted via HDMI adapter.
Disney+ no longer streams via Apple TV adaptor to my television since updating iOS 16 and problem continued after updating to 16.0.02
I just spoke to a service rep and she blames the TV. She said the TV hdmi software needs updating! But that doesn’t explain why it works with appletv+ or Netflix and not prime or Hulu.

rollback to 15.7….it works well …..I see no luck and waste of time in trying to find a fix….
