Anyone else having issues playing videos now after upgrading to iOS16 using the HDMI adapter? Tubi doesn’t work. Amazon doesn’t work. It plays but as if it’s in slow motion. Videos I purchased play just fine.
any help or ideas are greatly appreciated!

Great news, sort of. Thanks for checking. I had contacted Apple by phone in early October and they first blamed the problem on my TV and then second on the apps. Clearly it is an ios problem or firmware problem or lack of communication with app developers problem. Looks like they now think it is firmware.
Until its fixed if you're desperate and if you have an iPad on 15.7 or alternatively buy an old refurbished iPad, iPhone 8 or SE (about $150 on Amazon), download all the streaming apps and use it with the HDMI adapter while using your real phone as a hot spot to connect it to the internet. You just have to make sure the refurbished iPhone has ios 13.4 - 15.7 on it (Hulu requires 13.4 and Pluto 13.0 and Peacock 13.?). I'm doing this with my iPad that's still on 15.7.
Everybody probably has figured it out by now since most of the postings were in September but I found this, so this might be what changed not sure if it’s legit or not.
(Due to HDCP copyright protection, the iphone to hdmi adapter does not support the Apps such as Netflix/HBO GO/Affinity Player/Prime/Hulu/DIRECTV and other Paid Videos.)
WESiii you should get on a support chat and report this. If you’re patient and insistent enough you’ll get kicked up to a “supervisor” who then can’t blame the apps since it is their own app that won’t play the movies assuming you’re playing them in AppleTV+ app.
I can confirm Hulu, Netflix, Prime, PBS, AppleTV+, YouTube, Disney, Pluto, and Tubi all work with ios 16.3. Paramount+ and Peacock still do not.
I actually got a call from a support person telling me they fixed the bug even though it was not on the release notes! I’ll have to let him know about Paramount+ and Peacock.
it is definitely an ios16 issue so it lies with Apple to fix it as many of us are getting different apps working and not working while others are getting the opposite apps to work and not work
Please try your iOS 16.1 on Amazon Video. iOS 16xx works on Pluto TV and other services but not on Amazon.
Y’all need to contact support through the support app. I’ve been in contact and engineering is trying to look at logs to see why is causing issue. Chatting her is not helping. Contact support!
Yes, Apple still signing iOS 15.7 updates, and you can rollback to iOS 15.7

really strange. What is sure is that there is an issue since we upgraded to iOS 16.
@apple support team, can you include a fix in a new iOS 16.0.1 version ?
Paramount plus does not work with adapter, no picture but sound works, while selection of shows works, just no video.
Hulu does not work either, but in this instance, the video works, but there is no sound outside of the intro.
Discovery plus does not work either, no sound but video works.
prime video does not work, slow motion choppy video with no sound.
Disney+, Apple TV and Netflix work
apple please fix, or conversely notify the apps to make the correct corrections like a well run rollout doors before launching!!!
I’ve read on a French website that old appletv are facing a drm issue since iOS 16 upgrade. I’m confident to have a fix in an upcoming version ! I would prefer to have my adapter working properly but it should be fixed soon

The first time I connected the hdmi adapter, i got a message about downloading a new firmware and crossed the finger ... wondering if it's fixed by Apple ...
Unfortunately not, watching an apple tv original content on my videoprojector doesn't work.
However, there is a strange behaviour. If I try to watch the same apple original video using the same iphone / hdmi adapter / hdmi cable connected to my external monitor ... it works fine
I continue thinking that the issue is about DRM and HDCP implementation with the new firmware. Sometimes it works and ... sometines not !
Ever since iOS 16 it’s been sketchy at best with several apps. I luckily still have an older iPad that is running on 15.7. It works fine as long as the Wi-Fi is working well at the every park I live at. It is definitely the upgrade to iOS 16 that is the cause of the problem. They should fix it or stop selling the now obsolete product in my opinion.
Well, they'll only lose revenue from people in our position where we want to stream shows using the HDMI adapter via (probably unlimited) cellphone data and not as a limited hot-spot to Roku or other TV device. Nowadays that's only people without internet and whose hot-spot capability on their phone is non-existent or too limited in GB; otherwise they could just hotspot to a Roku or even another Apple non-iOS16 device hooked up with the HDMI adapter (I do this for now with a 15.7 iPad). So I think not enough people are complaining. It also could be that the telecoms (or Apple?) have caught on that you can stream this way without data limitations (if you have unlimited data) and have asked Apple to not allow it anymore (that doesn't explain why Netfix works unless they're paying some kind of toll to allow it for them). That just sounds too much like a conspiracy theory to me though since they still sell the adapter and therefore it should work. Why sell it if it won't work with iOS16? So it comes back to not enough complaints or just not a priority at the moment. Does anyone know whether Apple actually looks at this thread?
Amazon Prime Video broadcast through an Apple OEM HDMI adapter remains unusable under IOS 16.1.2. There is no audio when playing movies, etc. What is really frustrating is that there is audio when playing Trailers - Trailers play fine both audio and video. But not when playing the feature itself - no audio. Amazon should be issuing us refunds.
