XCode 14: git broken

After updating to latest Xcode (14, 14A309) the git command line has stopped working. A dialog appears saying command line tools needs to be installed. Doing so, by clicking Install, doesn't solve anything. In Terminal I get a backtrace, see attached. I'm on a Macbook 2017. What is the fix?

MacBook, macOS 12.5

The minimum supported operating system for Xcode 14 is macOS 12.5. With macOS 12.6 and Xcode 14 installed, you may be able to update the Command Line tools like so from the Terminal:

softwareupdate -l
software update -i "Command Line Tools for Xcode-14.0"

and this installs git v2.37.0.
