Homekit Automations are broken in iOS 16

If you look at the support page I shared, it states that it won’t be supported in the future. But it is currently supported.

I am having the same issue. ToD automations are not working with my Wemo outdoor switches. Sunset/sunrise work, but setting a simple on and/or off time is never triggered. Was hoping 16.2 would fix the issue. It didn’t. I updated my Apple TV and HomePod as well as my phone and iPad this eve. After recreating new automations with just an individual switch as well as a couple scenes that contain switches there is no change. ToD automations don’t work. WTF?

I’ve tried the “simple solution” you suggested (several times actually). I just now removed my HomePod entirely and now only have one (new) AppleTV as my hub. This time I reset that Apple TV and set it up again. The Home app shows the AppleTV as the only connected hub. I then created a simple ToD automation for the switch. It won’t trigger at the configured time despite working fine when I test it in the automation, or manually control the switch.

Btw, I have a Sunset daily automation using two of these same types of switches that has worked flawlessly for weeks. I had a turn off at midnight ToD automation that stopped working (it worked for several days), which is what started this for me…

This is not my experience. My original issue was, and continues to be, an automation with scenes. Two switches both in a “Xmas lights On” and “Xmas lights Off” scene. On scene is triggered at sunset and works great. Off scene is triggered at midnight, stopped working, and does not work no matter what I’ve tried thus far.

Yesterday I installed 16.2 on iphones, ipads, and one HP mini: it did not fix my issue, but my problem is very unique from what ithers have reported in that only my Thread devices failed to respond (“updating, no response”). All my timers/automations work fine so my Home system is great as long as I do not want to use my Thread devices (Eve/Wemo/Nanoleaf). I have tried all suggestions from this forum and even did factory resets on my Thread devices and reinstalled them, but they fail to respond. So I guess I will just box up my 11 Thread devices for storage and just be pleases that my other 36 non-thread devices are all working fine. It is disappointing that everything — thread devices included — worked flawlessly under iOS 15 and trouble only came when I installled 16. Anyone else having issues with just Thread-capable devices?

One thing I haven’t done in 16.2 is start the transition to the new home system.

Given 16.2 seems to be working well for me, I’m somewhat unsure about rocking the boat by implementing more change having just got things working again a week or two ago.

Anyone tried this?

Can anyone else confirm that with 16.2 it forces Apple TV to be a home hub? I’ve never had it set since I have 3 HomePods. The HomeKit on Apple TV has to be tuned on if I want to access HomeKit thru Apple TV. Which I was able to do in previous iOS. This is first time I can’t disable Apple TV as a home hub

So how did you disable it? Mine automatically forced 2 of my Apple TVs as homehubs. When I go into settings—HomeKit—HomeKit—-room—-and remove. It does remove the Apple TV from HomeKit and not a hub but then I can’t access any of my cameras or scenes or HomeKit icon from the Apple Remote.

I updated my appletv the other day but so far I haven’t observed it being the connected homehub. My guess is my HomePods haven’t had any problems.

My automations have run ok so far.

I’ll try unplugging my HomePods to force the appletv to be the homehub to expedite this experiment.

Can't do the Home upgrade here because Apple, in their "infinite wisdom", have decided iPad no long can be a home hub. Brilliant.

I already have a Roku in my TV for streaming video, otherwise I would consider getting an Apple TV. Not really sure what the HomePods are even for.

Does anyone know if the new home architecture is compatible with the most recent version of macOS Monterey? Apple obtusely says all devices need to be updated to the "most recent version" of the OS. For older Macs that can't be upgraded to Ventura, does this include the "most recent version" of macOS that can be installed on that Mac?

Seems Apple has disabled the home upgrade due to problems people have had.

Thats not the cause of the automations problems being discussed here, but thought I’d share as I know a few people have ‘upgraded’ and then still had problems.

I too thought I had it fixed but no. I’ve had enough. This has been going on too long. I’ve sold my 4 beloved HomePods although I loved the sound quality. But that’s all you could rely on them to do. Apple has just lost one customer to the Alexa stable.

I did not think it could get worse but for no known reason latest homekit, latest iOS and TVOS and it stopped working with my Z-Wave bridge.

To add insult to injury a few weeks ago Siri stopped recognizing simple homekit commands such as "Open Garage Door Number One".

Now today, it now can't find wifi connected deices. Every device I have is line powered with strong wifi.

Apple, what happened with doing a few things, and doing these really well?!?

Since installing iOS16 my home time of day automations have become very erratic. Some WEMO power plugs only work manually, some WEMO dimmer switches have glowing Red lights. Some Scenes like Sunset or Sunrise used to be reliable. Now they might work one day but not the next.

Any help is really welcomed,
