login screen refreshing

I recently updated to 12.5.1 on about 150 University Lab computers mix of iMac's and Mac Pro's. For some reason the screens now "Blink" or refresh and users cannot login to them. The only way to at least temporarily fix this is to force shut down the machine by holding the power button.

I use JAMF to manage all the computers but machines on older versions are not doing this. I also updated some machines to 12.6 and still seem to be having this issue. It is a HUGE problem.

While it sounds like you may need to get in touch with your university's IT department, we'd like to help rule out some possible causes, along with better understanding what's happening:

You mentioned that the user login screen 'blinks and refreshes', but we do not understand what this means. What exactly occurs when you try logging into a user? The more details, the better we'll understand what's happening.
You mentioned updating to the latest version, macOS 12.6, so we can rule out being outdated. Does this occur with all user accounts, or only one of them when trying to login?
While we're unfamiliar with what JAMF is, we're guessing this is something used to control/manage profiles on all the university lab Macs. Have you already reached out to their support to see what they have to say, or any suggestions to try?

Hello

I am the University IT Department, what I mean is the screen blinks to black and then the login screen comes back on. At this point I cannot Login to the machine as it refreshes every-time I try to login and erases anything typed into the boxes. I cannot restart or shutdown. The only way to at least temporarily log into the machine is to force shutdown the machine and restart. I have this happening on MANY university machines since I updated to 12.5.1 I have updated to 12.6 and it is still doing it. All of these machines are Intel macs (mac pro/imac)

yeah I did reach out, the tech told me to try some things and then respond to an email and we would take next steps. I emailed him 5 times and never heard back from him. So....thats why I am here.
