iOS 16 notifications disappear from Notification Centre

On iOS 16. If I have notifications, once they are viewed in Notification Centre they disappear so I can’t re-read them again later if they don’t need responding to immediately. I hope I explained this clearly. I’m finding it very frustrating. Is there a way to fix?

I think I may have the same problem.

Let's say I have five notifications from different apps. I see them but don't want to open or read them. Just to left to read later. Then I unlock the phone, and the notifications screen is empty. Even when I pull down the screen from the notch, there is no notification. To display the list of unread messages, I have to, on the lock screen, pull up the screen from down to see the Notifications Center. Otherwise, I have no chance to read any of them.

No. I’m not talking about if you open the notification from the Notification Centre. I’m talking about if you just read it from the notification screen. If I viewed a notification and then left it for two hours I could go back and re-read it. But now as soon as I viewed it in the notification centre I can’t view it again. It’s most definitely not the same as it always has been.

update 2: after system reinstall I see that this is the way system is designed. It means that once the notification is displayed, even if you don’t read it, it will disappear from the visible notifications. To see this notification you have to swipe up from the Lock Screen (or swipe down when device is unlocked and then swipe up) to see the Notification Centre manually.

it sounds ridiculous that you have to remember to check unread notifications later. The whole list of notifications should be visible somewhere all the time to help you keep tracking important messages.

It’s not a fix. I really dislike having to swipe up just to see my notifications.

I use the swipe down to see notifications extremely frequently, and now I have to swipe down to open Notification Centre, and then swipe up.

I have changed my notification settings to list view, but that changes nothing at all.

It seems so.

How did I test it:

I have sent a message to myself. I have got a disappearing notification on top of the screen. Then I locked the phone. And this is how the lock screen looked like then:

As marked with the red arrow, I have to pull up the screen to see the notifications center:

Otherwise , I will miss this notification.
