iOS 16 notifications disappear from Notification Centre

Just after the update to 16, all notifications were correctly visible on the lock screen. Now even if I change the settings to show the stack, list or number, nothing happens. The lock screen behavior remains as described above.

It seems so, but the strange thing is that after the update, I saw the stack each time the phone was locked. I have asked my friend if he has the same problem and he claims that he is able to see notifications correctly. I use iPhone 13 pro. Will check with 11 later today.

Yes that’s the notification centre. You still have to drive the notifications up from the bottom of the screen. The issue is that once you lock the phone on iOS 16, the notifications disappear and unless you manually check notification centre, You don’t know there’s no indication that you have notifications waiting.

I’ve got the same issue. I wouldn’t mind if all notifications can be read by swiping up from the bottom but that just changes apps/screens. You can have to slide down from the top first and then up from the bottom to get the ones you’ve missed, so it doesn’t make any sense to add an extra step. I hope they change it in next update.

When are they going to fix the “older notifications” not displaying until you swipe up after already swiping down to get to Notifications?

it’s so annoying as I have heaps of notifications that I turned off the sound so they sit in “older notifications” but I don’t even know they are there unless I swipe again.

Yeah, well that is the problem. What's the use in swiping here and swiping there to see the notifications. They should just permanently stay there until you have reacted to them. Now they just pile up and be hidden from the lock screen.

Thank you for being precise and saying that you have to swipe up from the *centre* of the Lock Screen - now I see my notifications! Don’t like them only being available to see from the Lock Screen though. That’s not v private. Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Agreed it should be fixed and not make it a habit. It’s such a pain I hate it.

I have a few notifications that I don’t want to be alerted about so when they do come through I can’t even see them unless I swipe down and then up again, makes no sense at all 🫣

You see, you're like the 20th person to suggest the same thing. It is not a fix - it is _the_ problem. We need notifications to stay visible on the lock screen until they are reacted on. Not to be buried anywhere without showing any indicator.

I hate this new notification system. I’ve missed so many important notifications because of this because my hand accidentally activated the screen so it thinks I “seen” it when I didn’t and then hours or a day later when I remember to swipe up I see my many upon many missed notifications. I hate it.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve tried everything, changed notification type for each app, changed style (stack, list), etc but nothing worked. I wish there was an option to keep Notification Center always open in Lock Screen.

This is a show stopper for me. I use the notification list as a to-do list 24/7/365.

I use the old Lock Screen as a notepad ALL THE TIME. Did Apple really intend to make them disappear every time you or your kids touch your phone or answer a call.

I need the notifications to be there until I actually clear them. I agree having to swipe here or there from this far up or that place is ridiculous .

My solution, I will be researching reloading previous backup with old IOS version until this is fixed.

I disagree this has not been thought out well by Apple. You seem to be the only person that thinks it’s by design.

There’s also no point in using that Feedback line as they don’t listen. This needs to be fixed ASAP, it’s a terrible experience!!!

I didn't say it was by design. I don't know if it is or not.

Yes, they do. The most recent example I can think of is the battery percentage in the status bar on phones with a notch. People have been requesting that it be added. Apple added it with the release of iOS 16. Lots of people hated the implementation. Lots of people said they submitted feedback. Apple has already implemented a change.

Although you're certainly free to post your opinion on the matter here, Apple won't see it. If you don't tell Apple, either by using the Feedback page or by contacting them directly, you're not going to encourage any change at all. But, it's entirely up to you.
