How to fix overexposure issues on iPhone 14 Pro Max Photos?

I purchased my IPhone 14 Pro Max today and it has an annoying over exposure that it does to all my photos. It look very different from what I'm seeing on the screen when I'm taking the photo. How do I fix this to get this automatic over exposure turned off?

If you are experiencing over or under exposure in either the Photo Mode or Portrait Mode, check your exposure compensation (EC) setting, icon below. There is a separate EC for photo mode and portrait mode. If you intentionally or accidentally set this off of zero, the offset will stay until you physically reset it to zero. Any offset will show up in the upper left of your screen with the mini histogram. Click on the histogram to open EXC and reset.

No guarantees, but this may solve your problem.

yes Exactly the pictures on the screen looks totally different than the picture taken, the selfie looks awful and as if there is a change in the facial features. That’s totally disturbing. What appears on the screen before taking the shot is a total different photo output. I am totally disappointed, is there something with the camera or a malfunction or setting needs to be changed. My old phone takes better pictures than this. It’s totally annoying and disturbing!!!

Funny how I found this support page, I had no idea SO MANY others are experiencing this! I was trying to find an answer, if there is one, about this camera issue.. I have the 14Plus from the 11, and I HATE the camera.. the photos are awful! I stopped taking selfies to share with friends because it makes me feel like I look ugly! I know I am not, but these terrible photos make me NOT want to take them, and on top of that, it makes me feel like, boy, if that's how I really look, it is quite depressing. Almost like its taking a shot at my self-esteem in a bad way. I wondered if anybody else felt that way.. Was even considering shopping and buying back a lower model again, but that is just more money.. so frustrating

I been having this same problem since after iPhone X. It all started with the 11. I don’t even use my camera now because of it. I use Snapchat then upload to my phone. But even sometimes snap does it as well. But not every single time like iPhones camera. I wonder if the 15 does this? Does anyone know? Because I have the 13 and I’m still having this problem. So I wanted to upgrade to the 15 in hopes it wouldn’t be a problem but I’m not gonna pay my phone off for more garbage.
