Apple Music Handoff / Continuity from iPhone to Mac and Mac to iPhone

The original question I found is linked above concerning the same expected operation and limitations that I will also describe.

When moving between MacOs and iOS devices both logged into the same iCloud Account, Apple Music needs to support something like HandOff or Continuity between these devices. E.g. I'm working on my computer, playing music from Apple Music to my AirPods. My phone is sitting idle on my desk. I want to get up and take a break, so I close my MacBook.

I should be able to, at a minimum, press "Play" either on my phone or by a linked AirPod tap / grip command to continue playing from where the music paused when I closed my computer. This exists in Spotify (current song and time stamp live synchronization from Desktop to Mobile) and it seems the limitation is the Apple Music service.
