iPhone 14 Pro Battery Draining Fast

Anybody have a clue why the iPhone 14 pro battery is draining like a Samsung? My 13 pro and 13 pro max battery was so much better.. I’m lucky to get through the day with the new 14 pro battery!! What’s going on? Is this because of the new always on display?

I own iPhone 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max. Battery life on both are nothing short of amazing. For example it is now going on noon. My 14 Pro Max has been off its MafSafe Charger, since 7:30 AM this morning and my remaining battery is 98% at this very moment.

If your battery is draining faster than you expect, you need to see what is using the battery.

Go to Settings > Battery and wait for the categories to populate. You likely have something running in the background you need to stop running.

You can also Force Restart your iPhone (something you should do routinely anyway) by following the procedure in this support document --> Force restart iPhone - Apple Support

i just upgraded to an iPhone 14 Pro, have the latest updates installed and experienced the battery drain problem. I was off wifi for the first time, but this is what my battery stats looked like…clearly the drain started once I was on cellular, but the app data on battery usage is either broken or Apple has a bug with Contacts. Hopefully they identify the issue soon.

I don't know how you do that tbh.

I took my phone off the charger at 9 pm yesterday, had it set to flight mode for the night and it was still at 100% this morning when I activated it at 7.30 am.

Now it is shortly after 12.30 and I am at 84% - meaning it has lost 16% or 3.2% per hour since!! I have NOT used the phone in any way in these 5 hours, it has just been sitting on my desk.

Apps' usage of the battery has been negligable, and my On-screen-time in the last 24 hours was a laughable 10 minutes!!

If that is considered "normal" battery drain, then that is super disappointing to say the least. I'm seriously considering returning the phone right now. I couldn't even use it for longer streaming of music or videos, that would probably end the battery in an hour or so.

it’s good to clarify that i have tried every tip I’ve read: turning off “always-on-“ / “raise to wake” / “location” / “background app refresh” / even the bluetooth it’s just on for a few minutes a day, and so the brightness (i’ve always use low intensity on display brightness. )

Also i just turn wifi on when I know there’s a trusted network available so it doesn't spend battery searching all the time. Thought all of that added me a couple of hours of performance, it’s fair to say its not a the solution, not to mention you are not able to use your iPhone as it’s supposed to.

if you check my battery report on yesterday, you’ll see it’s a swooping and very short graph.

Draining the last 50% of the battery in just 3 hours up to 3%. 3 HOURS!!!

In response to recent posts on this thread, I have just conducted an experiment. I watched a one-hour movie on Amazon Prime Video by streaming. It used 4% of the battery's charge. I then watched one hour of video from a downloaded movie; this also used 4%. If my maths are correct, to use 100% would take 25 hours.

For the record, I am using an iPhone 14 Pro Max on iOS 16.2. My display brightness is set at about 50% with Auto Brightness off. I had no other apps open (I always close apps as soon as I have finished using them). In Mail, I have Push switched on and Fetch set to 15 minutes. I do not have any social media apps on my phone.

I notice that iOS 16.3 is now available: I look forward to seeing any effect this update has on future posts to this thread, although personally I don't think the iOS is to blame for the bad battery performance some users are suffering. I agree with the clear, logical, well-informed contributions made by Dogcow-Moof.

As I have said before on this thread, it is a very common reaction to blame the iPhone 14 range and/or iOS16 for poor battery performance and, whilst I sympathise with those who are experiencing this situation, I still believe that such blame is misplaced.

I have a 14 Pro Max which I have been using from new since last November and I use it for just about everything in my life. A typical day will find me listening to music for several hours, using a public transport app giving live departure times, shopping with Wallet and ApplePay, navigating with Maps, reading with Kindle, taking loads of photos and the occasional video, shopping online and spending at least five hours streaming/downloading/watching movies.

I can count the days on the fingers of one hand when I have had less than 50% capacity left in my battery at the close of the day (and never less than 30%). I put my phone on charge around 2100-2200 each evening and unplug it when I wake naturally soon after midnight if it is fully recharged. Battery health is still 100%. I once used the phone for 48hours without recharge just to prove to myself that it could be done. I have always updated the iOS on the first available day.

To me, this suggests that a) there is nothing wrong with the iPhone 14 per se [mine is the same as everyone else's]; b) that there is nothing wrong with iOS16 per se [again, I am using the same iOS as everyone else]; c) that the disappointing battery capacity performance many people have reported, must therefore be due to the factors in which my device differs from theirs, namely the third-party apps that are installed, or the settings that have been activated since our devices were first personalised from new.

These conclusions seem to follow logically from the facts; if the phone or the OS were at fault, it would be experienced by every single user

I really hope that a substantive solution or solutions will be found soon for those who are suffering this syndrome. I wish everyone was experiencing the performance that I have always enjoyed from my 14PM.

Look at what is using your battery most in settings. Could still be indexing depending on how much you had on your device. Could be an errant app. Check to make sure you don’t have available app updates. If you do then let them install. My iPhone 14 Pro Max battery life is excellent and that’s with me using it a lot. Of course I realize you are asking about the pro but everything I mentioned could still be the cause. As far as the always on display…doesn’t seem to be using lot of power but you could always see how your battery behaves turning it off after a full charge to see if there is a significant distance for you.

Hope it stay this way for at least a year cuz mine is good with brand new 13 pro max but dude I m sure I was horrified w way 11 battery got bad so quick apple is just too fup I had almost since first one but now it’s nothing much left to it that phone like Samsung n more other android phones don’t have so. I’m surely fed up of them instead of upgrading the quality making it better more durable n . Longevity hardware it’s of course to rob us going down it’s only now the stupidity left buying it not even anymore status symbol

I’m not certain but yesterday there was an article online that stated how Apple has an updated a support document about the new iOS 16 haptic keyboard feedback, noting that using it could impact battery life. Have no info other than that, but that could be the cause. Unsure because I’ve only personally been using iOS 16 for a few days myself.

I’ve noticed the same thing too. My battery on my 12 Pro was a lot better than this 14 Pro. I did notice after the new update came out that my 12 Pro was feeling it with staying good on the battery.

I have gone through and turned off everything that could drain this phone battery and same thing. I did notice when I was away from home turning on low power mode did help a bit but not 100%. Hoping Apple does something for this since I recently traded in my 12 Pro already.
