iPhone 14 Pro Battery Draining Fast

Anybody have a clue why the iPhone 14 pro battery is draining like a Samsung? My 13 pro and 13 pro max battery was so much better.. I’m lucky to get through the day with the new 14 pro battery!! What’s going on? Is this because of the new always on display?

Update: The battery is fine. It’s the particular Astronomy Lock Screen and always on display that was killing battery. I guess because the globe rendering is live 3D, the battery drain is higher when combined with always on display. A regular static image doesn’t drain the battery like this.

Same. Apple advised me to get a new battery after hours and hours of trouble shooting. I'm doing everything correctly according to them, and they also said they are getting a LOT of complaints about this, an the rep acknowledged I probably got a lemon. I was told to bring it to an apple store to get a new battery. A problem bc I bought the phone at apple in the USA since I was going out of the country for several months. There's not much support in Indonesia, unless I want to leave my phone in a little repair shop for 5 weeks. A friend gave up on iphone and keeps saying "I told you..." so annoying.

Excellent test!

Looks like you've fingered the culprit.

'Find My' is trying to stay in contact with the device location, and with no/not enough cellular signal it's permanently shouting in the wilderness 'Here I am' at full signal strength.

Repeat the test back in normal location with 'Find My' turned off. If that confirms the diagnosis. leave it turned off for a day or two and check, then turn it on again and see what happens.

Keep notes to submit with your report to Apple.

This is the same reason why iphone 6 users currently always complain about their battery as well yet maximum capacity is still the same . l used an iphone 6s for long and never faced any battery issues back then , how ever , if you use a 100% battery health on iphone six today , you hardly spend a day same as 14 series . What am l saying ??? you are probably confused right now 😂😂 , the new features on the iphone 14 pro and pro maxes are draining up more battery.. the so called improve that and that e.t.c . lf you want to save your battery , deactivate many features on the phone ... especially voice recorgnition on siri .. , make sure airdrop is always off . lf you like music , just know ... the improved bluetooth range also consumes more battery than of 13 series . If you put an iphone 13 pro battery in 14 pro max ...l bet , it wont last 3 hrs 😂. 14 pro has a bigger battery but it has a the monster has a big throat as well 😂😂. lt slurps your battery quick quick

2% an hour would be 24% over a 12 hour day. That is fantastically good battery life. And there is no such thing as “standby drain”. The phone is never in standby; it is always doing things. Unless you never receive texts, emails, notifications, updates to content such as weather. And even then it is still maintaining a “handshake” with the cellular network, syncing iCloud and other apps that maintain cloud data. What is your network setting? It should be 5G Auto if you have that as an option; it is the setting that will use the least energy.

If you want to see the closest you can get to standby drain put the phone in airplane mode and make sure Wi-Fi is off, and leave it that way all day.

There’s a lot of Apple pros on here telling consumers that there are no battery life issues. Guess what? There are. It depends on certain variables unfortunately, including where you live. I live in Chicago and Apple Store reps confirmed they’ve seen a lot of issues surrounding battery and signal drops (which I have) depending on your carrier. Mine is Verizon which sucks the battery due to esim/5G tower issues. My advisor told me he was having so many issues with the iPhone 14 pro he returned it and went back to his 12 pro. Don’t let armchair quarterbacks tell you you’re crazy. The 14 pro has something going on with it that hopefully is addressed in future software updates.

You should leave your Wi-Fi on when away from home. If you don’t navigation apps will not work well, as most navigation is done using the location of known Wi-Fi networks. GPS only works outdoors with a clear view of the sky. Trees, tall buildings, and even heavy precipitation can block it. So leave Wi-Fi on and turn off VPN.

And something to think about→Don't use VPN - GITHUB

There are two legitimate purposes for using VPN:

  • To allow access to a private network such as a school or business when you are not on site.
  • To allow access outside of a country with a repressive government that has restricted Internet access. (This has suddenly become more important)

Any other use is risky, and can lead to problems. VPN disguises your location by making you appear to be somewhere else in the world. But you usually can’t control that “somewhere else”, and if it is in a location that an app isn’t approved for the app won’t work. Plus the fact that the provider of the VPN knows everything about you and your location, as well as what sites you access through the VPN. So you are totally dependent on the VPN provider’s honesty. As a start, if the VPN is free, DON’T USE IT. The provider has to make money somehow, and if you aren’t paying them then they are selling your private data to make money. But even those that charge can’t necessarily be trusted. For example, a few years ago Avast was caught selling user browsing data. They claim they have stopped doing so.

You don’t really need VPN when using public Wi-Fi, because all communications between your device and the servers it accesses are end-to-end encrypted.

If you want VPN for privacy about the sites you visit, that’s not a good choice as discussed; instead you should download and use the TOR browser.

With iOS 15.2 and later for iOS/iPadOS and MacOS Monterey 12.2 and later Apple now has iCloud+ Private Relay, which is not VPN, but provides a safer browsing environment than VPN, and it doesn't spy on you→About iCloud Private Relay - Apple Support
