Moving my iMovie Library
Now that I have copied my iMovie Library from my MacBook Air to my external hard drive, how do I copy it onto my new iMac?

How did you migrate your user data from the old Mac to the new Mac initially? If you used Migration Assistant the Movie library should have been included with the other user data.
Then you should be able to move the contents of the Movie folder that you backed up back to the Movie folder on the new Mac.
You might launch iMove first and let it create the subfolder in the Movie folder that you can replace with those you backed up.
Thanks. I didn't use Migration Assistant as iMovie is the only part of the laptop that I wanted to move over. A large number of files were copied over from an ancient G5 iMac via external hard drive. I followed the Mac instructions (copy to XHD, delete original). So far I'm working pretty effectively with the Library on the XHD but there's a bit of "buffering" despite the 16GB RAM.
