I had the exact same problem, “no audio at all from AirPods Pro 2 but a successful connection to TV” and discovered this thread. My TV would show connection to the AirPods, but no sound, despite the headphone volume showing 50% on the TV. For me, a few posts within this thread led me to my resolution after a lot of self trial and error.

Although, I am connecting to a Phillips smart Tv, and not a Samsung model.Hopefully though, as my symptoms were identical to others here, the below summary of actions taken that may help others experiencing the same issue.

1) The first thing I noticed before researching was that when first connecting to the TV the AirPods would connect with the “ - Find my” suffix as part of the device name. I just assumed that was just what was being broadcast by the AirPods Pro 2 to a non Apple device when connecting to them. I think it is a separate transmission broadcast on a different frequency that overshadows the audio connection. Earlier in this thread it is mentioned that turning off the “Find my” setting in the AirPods settings and then reconnecting them to the TV helps. I did this, and yes I able to get the TV connected to the AirPods Pro without the “Find my” suffix.

I did this but still no sound! My TV volume was still showing 50% headphone volume.

2) Further on in this thread it’s mentioned about lowering the volume slider on the TV to zero and back up again to get the sound. So I tried this but still nothing.

3) Then, again mentioned further above in the thread was about the Airpod volume itself via the stem. I tried this by moving up slightly and heard something very low so I thought I’m onto something here! I then tried increasing the volume on the TV via the remote, and although it increased on the slider, it didn’t increase the volume in my ears and still very quiet sound! So I continued with the slider volume on the stem of the AirPod itself. I did it about 4 or 5 times then got to a significantly increased volume. I then had to turn down the TV slider volume as it was too loud!! My TV goes to 60, and I’ve got in on 15, so only 25% volume which is adequate. AirPods volume is at maximum on the stem.

It appears that the Airpod volume defaults to zero when connected to a non Apple device, I assume for safety reasons. It is also independently adjustable from the TV headphone volume itself, i.e. both the AirPods and the TV volume can be adjusted to adjust overall headphone volume (in my case at least with my TV).

It has worked flawlessly for me since, no drops or deterioration, I can pause and restart play with audio fine, I can change sources without issue.

In summary do the following:-

1) Disable “Find my” setting to ensure correct device pairs to TV. Name shown should match name in Airpod settings on iPhone.

2) Ensure TV headphone audio volume is above Zero.

3) Increase the Airpod volume slider on the stem by sliding upwards a few times. Then adjust TV slider to suit.

I would like to say a big thanks to the other contributors on this thread that led me to work out what was going on in my individual case. Without them I would not have solved this! I can now enjoy the football in bed without disturbing my wife!

Hope this helps at least one other person with their issues. Good luck.

My setup is a Samsung QLEDTV from 2021. I've used my old AirPods pro without any issue. I successfully paired the new AirPods pro2 (5B58) to the TV. Here's what is currently happening:

TV - randomly lose audio while changing channels

youtube app - initially works, then when it cuts to advertisement it still works but once it returns to the youtube video.. no audio

netflix, HBO, disney - similar behaviour -randomly loses audio

I found a workaround without having to go thru the menus - menu button on remote -settings bar change audio source - return to airpods - audio back

It seems that it has to do with some codec support ...clearly fails on high-quality video... this is a totally empirical perception.

Ey Apple ... please help !!!

Just connected my AirPod Pros 2 to a new Hisense TV and had all the same issues as I had with my other TV - sound becomes squelchy and then no sound at all after disconnecting to charge the AirPods and then reconnecting. I tried every fix I could find to get sound to my AirPods (including confirming sound working on iphone and ipad).

Ultimate Solutions:

* Disconnecting and reconnecting AirPods to TV got rid of squelching. It comes back frequently and this fix seems to work every time.

* Disconnecting to recharge and reconnecting only to have no sound solved by pairing another set of Bluetooth headphones to TV (sound is fine with them) and then disconnecting and reconnecting the AirPods.

The good news seems to be (at least in my case) that if you can get sound to your AirPods after the first disconnect, it doesn’t happen again on subsequent disconnects.

APPLE: You need to fix this issue. You’re showing a complete lack of customer service and care leaving people with a near $AU400 product that has consistent issues. It’s absolutely appalling.

5B58 came out November 8 but did NOT fix the problem. I have been talking with Apple Care for 2 months without any progress. I spent 2 hours on the phone on Friday. Official position at this stage is they don't believe it's an issue as they don't guarantee their AirPods to work on anything other than an Apple product. I don't consider that acceptable. They also cannot comment on if they will ever 'fix' the issue or when it might even be. I don't see how I have any option but to return them. Which is very disappointing.

The volume 'solution' doesn't work for me. I've reached the end of the line with Apple on this. Having elevated it about 4 times in the end Apple's position is that they can't guarantee the pods to work on anything other than an Apple product and they cannot comment if or when it may be fixed. In fact they don't even consider it a problem. However I complained so earnestly that I was sent a free Apple TV 4K as an apology so I can connect the headphones that way. I suggest you all request the same.

I think the genuine cause of the problem could potentially be as follows.

The universal Bluetooth standard is a form of radio transceiver technology that has inter-compatibility with other devices baring the same Bluetooth standard and circuitry (non comparable devices being mutually compatible in a certain area of application and use, being that of audio streams between two or more mutually connected devices via Bluetooth radio communication technology).

Genuine Bluetooth technology standard seeks to ensure full compatibility between ‘other devices’ baring similarly genuine Bluetooth hardware/circuitry within, regardless of make and model of device they are contained within and with occasional firmware & software updates to further refine and enhance the Bluetooth experience. In addition to this and rather importantly, the rapidly evolving Bluetooth technology standard also ensures and allows for backwards compatibility with other Bluetooth enabled devices baring ‘older’ Bluetooth revisions - this is necessary due to the speed that Bluetooth revisions can happen, otherwise we would experience an unacceptable epidemic of non-compatibility and breakdown within the whole Bluetooth consumer standard infrastructure.

Unless mistaken, it appears the AirPods Pro gen 2 may be suffering an issue with its universal ‘backwards compatibility’ standard. Though it will work with other Apple devices having older Bluetooth revisions, clearly it has problems with other makes and model devices sporting older Bluetooth revisions. This leads me to believe Apple messed up the universal backward compatibility of the Bluetooth standard.

Example:-

The AirPods Pro Gen 2 has Bluetooth 5.3

It is backwards compatible with iPhone 13 Pro which has Bluetooth 5.0 and the audio stream functions normally.

My Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra also has Bluetooth 5.3 the same as the AirPods Pro gen 2 and also functions normally without any issue and with ‘no’ loss of audio stream (not happened once).

However my Samsung Neo QLED TV has Bluetooth 5.2 and the audio stream is very often and repeatedly lost.

It would appear that Apple have messed-up the universal Bluetooth backward compatibility standard while tweaking it to be backward compatible with their own devices, thus not ensuring it adheres to the universal backwards compatibility of the proper Bluetooth standard.

update: I found a temporary solution: by switching the output sound repeatedly from tv speaker to airpods and back and back to airpods and keep doing it until it will work:)) So far, I only had sound on airpods for 1 min and then puff….

I have the same issue with my airpods pro 2……It started disappointing….ios 16 with a lot of bugs, too many for apple and it continues to be discovered so many others….

Embarrassing that this is still an issue after all this time. I’ve tried every work-around listed here. The only solution has been to switch audio sources and cycle back to AirPods. Audio cuts out everytime after changing video sources, pausing for an extended time, and even cuts out after finishing an episode and the next one auto plays. Have not had this issue with any other pair of Bluetooth headphones or earbuds.

Same and the embarrassing momentary fix of having to frequently cycle to another audio output and then back to the AirPods Pro gen 2 again becomes incredibly fatiguing. Especially every time need to pause the video playback and worse still when watching YouTube videos with multiple adverts, as the AirPods Pro 2 even lose the audio stream from the normal adverts popping up.

After extensive testing with computers, TVs etc.

I can tell with absolute certainty that Samsung is the problem and not your AirPods.

Without bashing on Samsung to much. They are known for really bad follow up with their software updates.

Its a matter of company policy. They pump out loads of different products and their software is never on par.

There are worse companies than Samsung in this regard. However, in the case of BT not working properly. That honor sits on Samsungs shoulders.

They of course want to blame Apple but its enough to see the sheer magnitude of people with different constellations of Airpods and Samsung smart TVs too note a pattern.

Samsung makes excellent panels and their design is not too shabby. Their software however has been and still leaves a lot to be desired.

My update: Samsung have reviewed this extensively and advised it cannot be a TV issue. I have updated to the latest firmware version for my TV. I have also updated my AirPods to the latest Firmware: 5B58. Apple are reviewing still but keep advising that this is not an Apple issue because the AirPods work with my iPhone! Seems the issue is not going to be resolved if neither Apple nor TV manufacturers will resolve it...

I have read everyone's post after my previous post mentioning that the upgrade to Apple's firmware 585b solved my problem with my Sony TV and hearing the audio via Airpods Pro Gen 2. So I wanted to add (in case it helps someone else) that it did NOT work "at first". We have two pairs of Airpods Pro Gen 2 (two people in the room) creating some other issues around the TV seeing both pairs at once .. etc. Bottom line - we rebooted TV at one point and reinstalled the Airpods Pro at another point and renamed... sadly we did not keep track of what we did in what order! BUT... something around re-installing (on our iPhones and on Samsung TV blue tooth) and re-booting worked. I wish I knew which element triggered the success. The only other difference I can think of is the TV itself and Sony's firmware. Model QN65QN9DAAFXZA and Software T-NKM2AKUC-2101.0 BT-S
