Setting up multiple HomePods for family never works correctly

I cannot get my HomePods to work correctly. Constant problems with connecting, playing in the wrong rooms, not recognizing voices, broken Siri, “Can’t find that in your Apple Music library”, can’t connect to the internet…. I think the setup I have isn’t correct. Would love some feedback. Here’s the summary:

  1. 5 family members with six apple IDs. The extra Apple ID is just for media and purchases (“Media Account”). Legacy .me. All part of Family Share.
  2. I have 2 HomePods (i am Primary User on both of these) and 3 HomePod Minis. (Kid 1, Kid 2 & me are the Primary Users)
  3. The HomePod account for each HomePod is the Media Apple ID. As the backup ID I believe if the voice isn’t recognized.
  4. Apple One account is under the Media Account
  5. With all of the information above, how should setup all of these HomePods to ensure they will work? I feel as though the appleIDs, family sharing, media account, … are all messing up the settings and causing tons of random issues.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. I’m at a point where I want to clear everything and start over.

HomePod, 16

I believe you should set up all devices under the one Apple ID as the primary user, presumably your own. Adding the "Media Account" as the default HomePod media account should be OK. (Could there be an issue switching if this account doesn't have an associated voice? Who knows?) You should then share control of the home as you wish, and enable recognize my voice so that your Kids should be able to play from their own Apple Music libraries.
