How to check if my new 2nd gen AirPods are legit?

Amazon is full of counterfeits.

(I’ve been a recipient myself)

Some are obvious.

Some are cosmetically quite convincing.

When you unwrap a genuine Apple product you KNOW it.

Go w/ your gut instinct and return it to Amazon.

There is one way to know for sure- simply put the serial number into this Apple website.

If it returns accurate information, it's real. If not, it's fake.

They show up alright in the iPhone so I guess the firmware is Apple-blessed at least but the hardware feels like a cheap Samsung device.

You bought it from Amazon through a 3rd party source who probably isn't an authorized Apple dealer.

Everything thing you have stated is false.

Including the slur against Samsung.

All my Samsung devices have excellent build quality.

All I can suggest, if you are unhappy with your device, return it to Amazon for a refund.

There is no spring on the case, it's a magnet.

Lid on all mine is fine.

There is no matte finish on either generation of my Airpods Pro, they are both shiny.

I just looked at the label on my box, there's nothing wrong with it.

Would not a counterfeiter simply counterfeit a known “good” serial number?

They can- but even if the make and model was correct, there wouldn't be a verified date of purchase.
