Can't turn off guided access

We have a 7th Gen iPad running iOS 15.6.1. Guided access has been set up on the iPad. I'm trying to turn guided access off, but triple clicking the home button isn't working (specifically nothing is happening) . A restart and/or power off isn't working as I get the message 'guided access enabled, triple click home key to turn off'. I've tried triple clicking the home button, triple clicking the side button (as this is mentioned in some posts I've seen about this issue) and I have tried to power the device off. I just keep getting the msg about guided access being enabled and to triple click the home button to turn off. Triple clicking isn't working. Please can you help

When you are stuck in Guided Access mode, you are really stuck as the typical triple tap on the home button to quit out of Guided Access may not work. Even a forced exit/restart won't work because the power button and the home button are disabled.

The only way to get out of Guided Access is to press the Home and Power button together for 15 seconds. This should turn off Guided Access by forcibly rebooting your device. Once your device is restarted, you can then go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access > Guided Access - and turn off Guided Access if needed.
