Pixelated screen using Apple CarPlay

If you do a google search there are a lot of post, in different sites, pointing to this problem happening in a lot of different car brands, so, for me, it is clear to be iOS related.

Only manual by the dealer, as far as i know. (in the Netherlands)

I forgot to mention that I leave it zoomed out the entirety of the car trip. And also maybe try zooming out further?

Nothing improved with iOS 16.3 (iPhone 8+, discover pro 3G1035816, Hardware H57, Software 0809) in a Passat 2022. This is so annoying.

Found a solution for me :) Posting this from my Google pixel phone everything works perfectly with Android Auto. Good job Apple :/

Actually I’m on 16.4.1(a) and problem is solved so far. Therefore I hesitate to upgrade 16.5 lol

Apple support always gives a useless answer, every single time, I don't know why they are avoiding giving real support. This problem is already so widely known and zero communication, people are starting to use android autos instead and this is quite predictable

Why is there still no response from Apple? 76 people marked this thread as „Me too“, and those are probably only the ones finding this thread via Google (like me). There’s probably a lot more people having this problem.

My car was serviced a week ago- they couldn't find anything wrong with it! I had to pop back in to the garage to show them when the screen went bad after about 20minutes of me driving around town just to prove that this was really happening..

Still no contact from the dealer a week later..

I've got a question though - which dev team was it that acknowledged the problem? Was it your car manufacturer's team? Was it Apple CarPlay team? Or was it a team behind a specific application which is affected by the issue?

Ugh. So mad. Seemed to be fixed but manifested itself again tonight. My kryptonite seems to be night mode while on a phone call. Not sure if there was a correlation or not. The phone call seems to be what kills it for me.

How has this not been resolved yet?

Apple needs to do an update that will sync with cars and fix this extremely dangerous road hazard. I have a new Honda CRV 2022 which is pixelating on Carplay when I'm on the highway driving at night and causing me to get into near-accidents because I have to unplug and replug the phone and reselect the map function.

I personally HATE Carplay because it robs me of the ability to navigate in my (google) map on my phone when, let's say, I'm stopped on the road and want to see what's around me in route. The only option is to exit the route so that you get rid of the directions list in order to see the map, but then you can't move the map around along the route to see what's in the area if you want to detour, for example, and you are rushed to re-enter the map instructions again if you need to start driving again. If I want to charge my phone and transmit my music through the car stereo, then I have no option but to use Carplay while driving if I also want GPS.

I thought the whole point of Carplay was to optimize safety and make it completely impossible/unnecessary to touch your phone while you're driving. Well, the current situation requires me to repeatedly engage with my phone while driving in order to fix the pixelated map situation and does so at the most hazardous, unpredictable moments.

The current problem is a death trap and Apple needs to fix it ASAP. Meanwhile, I see people reporting this for months and nothing being done.

If you've been running iOS 15 for the last year, then I would say your experiences are not too relevant for the discussion. Most of VAG+ problems started with the upgrade to iOS 16. And I also expect majority of people do upgrade their systems in smartphones.

But of course, you could be right, it could be VAG issue (not ready for iOS 16).
