iPhone 14 Notifications / text sounds not working¡

maybe a temporary fix. put my watch on today and didn’t enter the passcode. next text I received I did get a sound notification on my phone ( iPhone 14) and the message popped up on watch as well without sound. worked for two separate notifications

before this vibration on watch, no sound notifications on phone or ipad

I was having this issue also and it seems to have sorted out after I turned off the haptics.

You can still get notifications. Just don't "mirror my iphone"

My wife’s iPhone 14 stopped iMessage notifications with her alert tone. It only allowed hapatics. After several unsuccessful attempts to check all settings, I decided to look at this forum. As one commenter reported, when I left her iPhone on with the screen on, and placed a call, the alert sounded. This was the first time I heard the alert. I then shut off the screen, and called again, and this time the alert tone came through. I believe, there’s some kind of iOS glitch happening, causing this widespread problem. I hope Apple support fixes it.

so I got to speak, very easily, to apple support and he did something with my ‘Focus’ settings and now all is good. Could be worth a try?

I have had the same issue. Apparently Microsoft teams set my status to DO NOT DISTURB! That explains everything. I wasn’t getting team notifications on my laptop either.

Same problem with me and my 14 Pro Max. I can hear audio from notifications if the screen is unlocked. If locked, silence for most notifications. Even my alarm app, which normally plays audio, only works when the screen is unlocked. When I first got the phone a couple weeks ago, it was working, but after updating to 16.0.2, it quit working. Although I do not have any disturb mode set or an active focus window and the ring/silent switch is in the correct position (I can hear the phone ring when I'm called), the notifications are silent. I think it's a bug.

iphone 14 pro - same issue. There is a proposed fix to go into sounds and slide volume all the way up and then down. That seemed to “fix” iMessage sound notifications but it did nothing to fix sound issue of any other 3rd party apps. A mobile phone is supposed be your connection for communication…without sound notifications the value of the phone is diminished. I hope apple addresses this issue soon.

Just got my new 14 pro max today and this is ridiculous. What’s the point of me paying hundreds for a watch if I have to disconnect it to get my text notifications 🤦🏼‍♀️

I didn’t have this issue with my 11 that I just upgraded. Apple needs to do something about it.

If you have an Apple Watch, how you get notifications depends on which devices are locked:

You’re not alone, and it’s getting really old as Apple keeps avoiding this issue. I’m on my 3rd device in probably 4 yrs now with this same issue….and when I disable Bluetooth, it works fine. But to your point….the entirety of the globe embraces Bluetooth and disabling it makes my $800 Apple Watch and my young child’s $250 (family) watch pretty well the equivalent of a 1980’s SWATCH!

in my case, I had bluetooth turned on on my 14 pro max, because I need it on. However, I have a radio in the house that has bluetooth capability. Even if the radio is set to FM and not to bluetooth, if the radio is on, it 'hijacks' the phone's bluetooth signal and sends all sounds to radio speakers. This same think happens with my car. If I am listening to my ear buds. (which have superior sound quality) and I start my car, the radio in the car hijacks the signal and the sound moves from the earbuds to the car. This also happens if my girlfriend is driving my car. If I'm in the garage, talking on the phone, and she starts my car in the driveway, the car hijacks the audio of my phone conversation and my phone goes silent. This is insane. It cannot be prevented. We are all doomed.
