“Live” status IMessage Location Sharing Services

Hi!

I have a quick question referring to the location services and it’s tracking features.

When sharing locations with a given contact, you are able to click on the contact’s information, and then click on the large location box, indicating where they are.

I am aware that from iOS 15 and forward, the gps and refresh rate is no longer periodic, and rather spontaneous.

When viewing someone’s location (via iMessages > info > location box) the status can give a time such as “a minute ago” as well as “live”.

When the status indicates “Live” this simply refers to the phones GPS updating and has no correlation to someones real time activity on their phone, correct?

Basically the “live” status does not necessarily mean someone is on their phone, right? I appreciate the assistance.
