Blurry pics on iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 16.0.2)

I just got the new phone few days ago (for the better cameras compared to 13 Pro Max), and surprisingly the pics quality is blurry!

If I use the main camera when choosing 'vivid' mode, after the pic is taken , it takes 3-4 more seconds to do the post-processing! You can see the pic changing contrast, light etc in 2-3 times during that time interval of 3-4 seconds. The result at the end is not as good as I had with 13 Pro Max - which did the processing WHILE taking the pics and not after...

If I chose the 'standard' mode, the pics are better than in vivid mode, but still if you zoom just a little the details get lost! If you dont zoom, some areas of the pic seem clear and others blurry!

I did everything I could do from my side, cleaned the lens, updated to 16.0.2 as I mention in the title and I dont know what else to do :/

Any help on this please?

Having the same issue, called Apple support. They’re apparently aware of the issue and the software team is notified and “working on the issue”. They also said they’re unable to tell me how long the “fix” software release will be, could be 1 months. Could be 6 months…

also offered me a phone swap but my phone passed all hardware issues so swapping the phone won’t really solve the issue.

facing the same issue here and its totally frustrating. My iphone 12 Pro was a much better camera. Iphone 14 Pro is a disappointment. This photo with so much details was taken by Iphone 12 Pro in a heartbeat.

While this taken by 14 Pro was after mutiple tries and missing the moments and still can’t match half the quality of Ip12 Pro. Thinking of downgrading back and sell off 14 Pro.

The other probable way as I found out Raw mode could do better but it’s gonna kill the storage big time which sucks.

WOOOOO thank you.... & I'm screamin' happy I figured THAT one out yayyyyyyyyyyyy....

However... about the main camera.... There was one time when I did try the main camera through a window though and tried to aim on something for a photo and the object in question WAS blurry yup.... but maybe taking that same picture outside on the same type of object was better? Maybe something to do with the through the window it won't focus on certain things... strange...

Albeit... I am extremely happy to have fixed the selfie issue...

I hope Apple fixes annnyyyy ongoing regular camera issues too.. for the price we paid whew... with my trade-in it was great though...

My 14 Pro Max also takes blurry pictures. My 6s takes better pictures than 14 pro max does. Very disappointed considering the cost of the new phone. IOS 16.0.3 first picture is from 6s second picture 14 Pro Max. I do have camera protector on 14 pro. I wonder if that is causing the blurriness?? Come n Apple, acknowledge thr problem and fix or replace our phones.

Same here and I’m already on 16.1.1. I’m having the issue using any of the cameras. Nothing seems to really be in focus or sharp even with 58MP. My 12 pro max and XS max also seemed to take much better pics.

Has anyone noticed any differences when taking pictures with flash and without? I haven’t played around much with that yet.

Same for me! My videos on 3x telephoto cam is blurry specially on Cinematic, Slow-mo, and time laps. I chatted with apple support, they did an online diagnostic and told me that there wasn’t any HW problem. Im using 16.1 version. There isn’t any official apple store where I live! Since the photos on 3x are good, I hope that it is a SW problem :(
