Blurry pics on iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 16.0.2)

I just got the new phone few days ago (for the better cameras compared to 13 Pro Max), and surprisingly the pics quality is blurry!

If I use the main camera when choosing 'vivid' mode, after the pic is taken , it takes 3-4 more seconds to do the post-processing! You can see the pic changing contrast, light etc in 2-3 times during that time interval of 3-4 seconds. The result at the end is not as good as I had with 13 Pro Max - which did the processing WHILE taking the pics and not after...

If I chose the 'standard' mode, the pics are better than in vivid mode, but still if you zoom just a little the details get lost! If you dont zoom, some areas of the pic seem clear and others blurry!

I did everything I could do from my side, cleaned the lens, updated to 16.0.2 as I mention in the title and I dont know what else to do :/

Any help on this please?

Having the same issue, called Apple support. They’re apparently aware of the issue and the software team is notified and “working on the issue”. They also said they’re unable to tell me how long the “fix” software release will be, could be 1 months. Could be 6 months…

also offered me a phone swap but my phone passed all hardware issues so swapping the phone won’t really solve the issue.

This is just awful and I can relate to your disappointment.

I will continue to update as I haven't been able to test in many settings yet. So far what was done has changed the photo quality immensely. But again, I haven't had a lot of opportunities yet, so I leave it as we shall see.

Right now I am satisfied with what was done but rest assured I will continue to test.

I really hope there will be more resolution for everyone.

I was about to purchase a Samsung S22 Ultra unlocked and cut my losses this morning. Instead I tried chatting with the Apple support again. I’m going to the Apple Store in about an hour for someone to look at my phone. I don’t have high hope since they treated me so poorly last time when my first phone PM 14

camera sounded like it was grinding coffee beans.

Since I’ve found more great examples of reviews I cannot replicate on my phone of better quality and other phones with better cameras.

I have the 14 pro max and the pixel 7pro. I prefer my pixel for any portrait shots since their latest update and for any close up pics now that Apple has extended the min focus distance. Also, apples portrait mode ***** if it’s anything but a human. Objects and pets typically look bad. I like my 14 for general outdoor shots but honestly, the pixel looks better for most things. Which ****** me off. If they would get the software issues corrected, this camera (14 pro max) would be great.

Really falls down to you eco system and/or the need for one. I use an iPhone 14 pro max as my main phone just because my family group of about 14 people all use iPhone. I was on the pixel and messing things up for everyone in the messaging dept. 😂 But I also bought a pixel 7 pro on swappa for about 550 so I could use for photos. Honestly, I like the pixel camera better. Also, Siri is straight up dumb compared to google assistant. But as far as the hardware and the iMessage, it just made life easier with my family. Both great phones though to be honest.

And what I get from it, is that Apple wont fix anything until the new iPhone comes out and introduces some better photo processing with a fancy name (as the guy in the video mentioned) which will make us all to buy iphone 15 eince with the ones that we have, the fix might come maybe in more than a year (much latter than iphone 15)

Well just had a call with Apple and they refused to look at this thread or even acknowledge the fact other people are having the same issue. We were just to do trouble shooting on my phone as “you can find anything you want on the internet “. How very convenient indeed. Think I will just sell the phone and go buy android. Very poor show from Apple indeed

I do think its the same song they sing to everyone almost for every issue that doesnt show in their superficial diagnosis!

they told me the same “it could a sw issue and might be fixed jn future ios releases”!

but how it could be fixed if its not acknowledged officially?!

or it wont be acknowledged and fixed in the background and sneakily included in some ios release in the future?!

is this the transparency we deserve for buying a 1600+ device??
