Blurry pics on iPhone 14 Pro Max (iOS 16.0.2)

I just got the new phone few days ago (for the better cameras compared to 13 Pro Max), and surprisingly the pics quality is blurry!

If I use the main camera when choosing 'vivid' mode, after the pic is taken , it takes 3-4 more seconds to do the post-processing! You can see the pic changing contrast, light etc in 2-3 times during that time interval of 3-4 seconds. The result at the end is not as good as I had with 13 Pro Max - which did the processing WHILE taking the pics and not after...

If I chose the 'standard' mode, the pics are better than in vivid mode, but still if you zoom just a little the details get lost! If you dont zoom, some areas of the pic seem clear and others blurry!

I did everything I could do from my side, cleaned the lens, updated to 16.0.2 as I mention in the title and I dont know what else to do :/

Any help on this please?

Having the same issue, called Apple support. They’re apparently aware of the issue and the software team is notified and “working on the issue”. They also said they’re unable to tell me how long the “fix” software release will be, could be 1 months. Could be 6 months…

also offered me a phone swap but my phone passed all hardware issues so swapping the phone won’t really solve the issue.

I'm so happy to hear they are "aware" lol- that is actually a step up from a few months ago. Here's hoping for less grainy photos!! I think Halide is a photo app. But having to take all the photos through an app to have them be usable is unacceptable for a phone with such a huge price tag (as we all know). I personally use the app snapseed to edit all my photos and smooth out the grain- it's the only way I can use them. I can't post on Instagram without editing all the photos first. Takes a lot of time!!

I've noticed the lack of focus is also while shooting video too- it will switch lenses and loose focus for huge amounts of time making the videos unusable too. For that, I just have to delete them. I've never had to delete so many photos and videos before. I'm losing so many moments I wanted to capture. It's actually really sad.

I’ve just got the iPhone 14 pro max and I cannot believe how rubbish the camera is. It wouldn’t even scan my debit card to add to one of my accounts!!! This is totally unacceptable considering how expensive this phone was. Six months ago according to this thread this issue was reported to Apple and they were ‘working’ to resolve it. Well 6 months is long enough. These phones should be sold as seconds as they are not up to the job. Well, mine phone is going back!

Alright look at this. I took a photo of grapes in natural light. (Or I should say, attempted to) it came out terrible of course. So I said to my husband hey let me use your phone (he has an iPhone 7 lol) you won’t believe the differences in the photos. I will upload them- iPhone 14 Pro Max

iPhone 7 Plus

Here are the details side by side when I zoomed in (this photo was taken with my mother’s iPhone 12)

7 on the left, 14 on the right. The difference is crazy if you really zoom in. Also, this photo really highlights the “muddy” colors of the 14 pro max as well. My husbands iPhone 7 Plus photo shows the colors so much more true to life!

This really highlights the issue well (no pun intended) I’ve been doing the same comparing the same photos on my old iPhone 11 Pro Max which I gave to my mother and not only is the focus/detail better but like you said it picks up colors so much better as well. Everything is even more noticeably bad on the 14pm if ever you’re not in perfect natural light
