Email not sending on iPhone

Hi, I am having a very big problem with the mail app in iOS 16. I have two emails set up and when I reply to a email, it can’t send, it just goes straight to my outbox and a error message says server not found. I tried everything, I looked to see if my server for the emails is turned on and it is and I also re-added my two emails again and it still did not fix the problem. I did not change anything about my two emails since I had iOS 15. In iOS 15, did not have these problems but now I do. This is definitely a iOS 16 problem.

Same thing happened to me. After sending, I was unwittingly tapping Undo Send at bottom of screen by accidentally touching or swiping up to exit before mail had a chance to send. Undo Send option is on by default. There is a minimum 10 second delay to mail actually being sent, even after you hear the whoosh. Go to Mail preferences, scroll down to very bottom > Send > Undo Send Delay > Turn Off or choose 10/20/30 Seconds.

Just swipe (no force close) and hey presto - the email you carefully crafted has disappeared from everywhere forever (despite the "woosh").

it doesn’t on any of my 4 iOS devices. My mail sends after I have closed the mail app by returning to the Home screen, after the 10 second delay I have set. Have you actually tested this? I did, several times.

Just found this thread: I've had the same problem with one of my email system in iPhone's 'Mail' ever since I upgraded to iOS 16.5.1, which simply sends my emails to 'Outbox' and it stays there; I have 'Delay Sending' switched off. I have iOS 16.5.1 on my iPad and the same email system in 'Mail' sends no problem at all, with exactly the same credentials: most odd and REALLY infuriating!

Hi, many thanks for your timely reply which I appreciate. I have tried all the fixes mentioned above: the credentials (Outgoing Mail Server - Passwords etc.), are the same in iPad and iPhone - iPad functions perfectly, iPhone doesn’t: iPhone emails stay in in ‘Outbox’ in this particular email system that I mention. With any email I send in this particular system I get: ‘Cannot Send Mail’ The server rejected the recipient’s addresses. The message has been placed in your Outbox.

Incidentally, I believe that my issue has everything to do with this thread, 'Some Mail not sending in iOS 16’ no?

Anyway, thanks for your attention to this.

Hmmm……….deleted my VPN profile and App, shut down and re-started my iPhone and the fault remains the same: a most curious fault?

I have a few system operating in ‘Mail’ working fine: I've removed and reinstalled this particular email system from ‘Mail’ several times since the fault started a few days ago; unfortunately I can't seem to find a way around it?

Again, thanks for your help.

Similar issue. However it "sends", I hear the swoosh. it disappears, But then it is not in the sent folder, not in the drafts, not in the outbox, no where, and I follow up with intended recipients, they didn't get the email. this seems to happen more with forwarded and replied emails than new created but happens with all. this is a HUGE issue especially when work time related emails... claiming "but I sent the email!!!"

I am having an issue where I will reply to an email, hit send. It appears to go through, and then days later when I wonder why no one has replied it is because the email never went through. No trace of it at all. Not in drafts, not in outbox, nothing. At first I thought ok, maybe I didn't send it. But now that it's happened probably 25 times since the update, I know its not me. It's causing issues with my job. It doesn't do it every time. Only sometimes. I don't think it has to do with closing the app immediately because most of the time it works. But on the occasions where it doesn't its a MAJOR issue. Apple, PLEASE FIX!

For years, I have been replying to emails through Mail in my iPhones and randomly there will be an “error mail not sent” message and my carefully composed email reply will have vanished without a trace! Gone!

This is so frustrating. To spend so much time composing important messages and they don’t. Send and they vanish. It’s been happening since my iPhone 6plus right through XR and now 14 Pro Max. Vanished, not in draft nit in sent folder. Gone.

Dear Apple, we buy your phones to COMMUNICATE. This ongoing mail failure problem is UNACCEPTABLE! Fix it!

What I am thinking is that apple and google doesn’t or aren’t compatible with each other because I’ll be at home using my own providers WiFi and no that I’ve got good speed and I can’t send out a damm email on my Gmail and talking about disappearing emails I’m with you on that I’ve even created a special folder and knowing that I saved a email and I’ll be damm it just disappeared but when you talk to apple about it they tell you they have no control over emails it’s the email provider that you need to talk too and let’s freaking forget trying to get ahold of somebody on google

the only thing I disagree with you on your statement is how Samsung is better than a iPhone sorry android are not friendly user and then you have to download **** you don’t need to do on a iPhone but this my opinion Ty.
