My iPhone keeps changing the wallpaper

My iPhone keeps changing the wallpaper when I charge it or when I reastart it. Is that normal? It happened after updating to iOS 16

Completely annoying. It gives you the option to “set as current”, but then changes at random on its own. I’ve tried everything to keep it on my CHOSEN wallpaper to no avail. Definitely something that needs fixed.

I have never been compelled to say that I hate something but the new iPhone update with the stupid customizable wallpaper is so inconvenient. There is no option to just set it and leave it. If u hold it down just too long it changes to customize option. Then it doesn’t even keep the option sometimes Emmy wallpaper turns a dull color or adds blank boxes.

oh and my phone just calls people. Never has that happened before but yet here it is.

apple please fix this max I hate being a prisoner of your bugs.

The issues seams to be adding your preferred wallpaper to a focus. If you add it, it’s going to always trigger that particular focus, being permanently associated to it.

In my case I had added my favorite wallpaper to a focus related to work. That wallpaper became exclusively linked to that focus, so any time I deactivate that focus, instead of maintaining that wallpaper, that should also be my default one, it changed to another wallpaper.

Once you remove the wallpaper from the focus mode, or choose a different one to replace it, the issue stops.

I think Apple could do something other than simply linking them permanently to a focus mode.

so how do you replicate your ‘normal’ screen/wallpaper setup to carry over to the night mode if you switch to night-time/focus mode?

Have you tried going to Settings>Focus>Sleep>Customize Screens. If any of the pictures of screens just above that have a little minus sign in the upper left corner, tap on that. It will remove any customizations including different wallpaper. Also, you may want to tap on Options and then turn off Sleep Screen.

In my case, I only have a custom screen for my watch but, if you had one for the phone, you'd see a similar minus sign.
